Meet the Member: Mulberrys Garment Care

Chris and Lisa, owners of Mulberrys Garment Care pose in a wine cellar full of wine barrels.

From the very start Mulberrys Garment Care’s focus has been on the customer, making sure their experience is always a step above anything else, but when Chris and Lisa Brooks became franchisees, they took it one step further with their Minnesota locations (and they own all of them!) Not only is this power couple determined to make lives easier in the way of offering services that check off the to-dos at the bottom of most people’s list of favorites, but they give back to the community, build teams of hard-working, professional individuals, and simply love living and working in Minnesota.

We’re thrilled for you to get to know Mulberrys Garment Care; what they offer and how they like to spend their time when not watching smiles emerge from the faces of their customers after picking up freshly laundered bedding. Their slogan is, “dry cleaning and laundry reimagined” but they should add the word ‘experience’ as well because it’s unique, distinctive, and pretty life changing (they wash and fold? Yes, please!)

Tell us the story of how you started your business – include your mission statement, when you started your business, and the inspiration behind it.

Mulberrys Garment Care was founded in 2009 by Dan Miller. Prior to starting Mulberrys, Dan was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. In that position he had the opportunity to observe the best practices of a number of leading Fortune 500 consumer brands. One day, after a particularly bad dry-cleaning experience, Dan realized that the focus on world-class customer experience he had observed in other markets was missing from the $9 billion dry cleaning and laundry industry. From that insight, Mulberrys was born.

Mulberrys’ mission is to become the leading provider of premium, toxin-free dry cleaning and laundry products and services. Mulberrys’ slogan is “dry cleaning and laundry reimagined.” We want every touch point with our customers to be a step above anything they’ve experienced in the dry-cleaning industry. We build this experience on four core pillars: 1) Delightful customer experience 2) Focus on sustainability 3) State-of-the-art technology and 4) World-class operations.

After years of being loyal customers, in 2020 Chris and Lisa Brooks became the first franchisees owning all the Minnesota locations.

Why did you choose to have your business in Minneapolis/St.Paul?

Minneapolis/St. Paul is our home! We both grew up in Minneapolis, have a wide network of family and friends, and wanted to raise our own family here.

Besides your own hard work, who would you thank for the success of your business?

We received a lot of guidance from our founder and friend, Dan Miller, and an incredible amount of encouragement from all our friends and family.

Enough about work, let’s talk fun!

You’re entertaining guests from out of town, where are you taking them and why?

Downtown for a Parlour burger or to Bar La Grassa because both are always a hit!

Hotel Ivy, Hewing Hotel, Omni Vikings Lakes Hotel because they all have great food, great bars, and all the perfect amenities for a staycation.

In the summer we love to boat! In the winter we enjoy visiting the ice castles (with the exception of this last winter where they melted before we could see them!)

Sever’s Corn Festival in the fall. Great location, tons of fun activities for both kids and adults, and great food and drink options.

Usually carting the kids around to school and activities… but in an ideal world, sleeping in, lunching with friends, and enjoying some time outside!
