March in Hunt Country

Dear Friends,

While the weather has been unseasonably warm, we can’t help but smile at some of the very early signs of Spring life that are popping up all around. This month is a celebration of good food and good drink in Hunt Country, with many of our beloved businesses offering fresh, farm-to-table cuisine to brighten up your moods and palettes for the fast-approaching springtime. Get out there and enjoy!

Cheers!

Virginia’s Daffodil Tale
March 9th | 9-12pm | The Oak Spring Garden Foundation | Details
Join horticulturalist and plant historian Sara Van Beck for a deep dive into the tantalizing tale of the regional prominence of daffodils. Happily, daffodils maintained a presence in Virginians’ gardens through the Victorian era into the early twentieth century, contributing to the establishment of daffodils as a commercial bulb crop. Notably, the Garden Club of Virginia’s 1924 seminal effort Historic Gardens of Virginia helped cement daffodils as worthy garden flower, past and future. Combined, these narratives and social influences encapsulate the broad history of daffodils in American gardens, as seen in the verdant gardens of Virginia.
