Fall is around the corner, and so are fun fall things to do in the Triad! Whether you’re looking for spooks or thrills, or fun for the whole family, there are endless things to do to keep your fall fun. 

Haunted Attractions

Kersey Valley Spookywoods

Located just outside of Greensboro in the town of Archdale lies one of North Carolina’s most famous fall adventures. If you are brave enough to enter their haunted house you will experience spooks and scares you won’t forget! If you are more on the cowardly side, you can enjoy outdoor laser tag, escape rooms, ziplines, axe throwing, a corn maze and more!

Woods of Terror

With horror at every turn, Woods of Terror is sure to bring a fright! With every twist and turn, you’ll be met with unexpected terrors and hair-raising surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you aren’t one who likes to be scared, there are games, food, and drinks to keep you company while your friends encounter the haunts of the night.

Parks

Tanglewood Park

Tanglewood Park is best visited in the coming months. The gorgeous pathways for walking is a great way to take in the crisp fall weather. You can also play a round of golf or bring your dog to their TangleWoof Dog Park! 

Hanging Rock State Park

Hanging Rock is a perfect place to see the leaves changing over the Piedmont. Take your family for up to 48 miles of hiking, 18 miles of biking, and even horseback riding! You can even take a boat out until the end of October. 

Fall Activities

Pumpkin Patches

There are so many fun pumpkin patches in the Triad you can visit! Each patch has different activities and offerings that are fun for the whole family!

In the Winston area, visit Alpha & Omega, Armstrong Artisan Farm, or Hawks Pumpkin Patch. In the Greensboro area, visit McLaurin Farms. In the High Point/Kernersville area, Zane’s Clodbuster Farms, Kernersville Pumpkins and Christmas Trees, or Smith Hollow Farm are all great options. 

Apple Orchards

The Triad is home to many great apple orchards that offer U-Pick and pre-picked options. Most orchards also have fun activities and apple products for purchase. 

Some to visit are Apple Hill Orchard, Carrigan Farms, Coston’s Apple House, or Skytop Orchards. 

Fairs & Festivals

Carolina Classic Fair

Everyone’s favorite fair is back in Winston-Salem! From September 29th-October 8th, the Carolina Classic Fair will be in full swing. There is so much to experience at this fair including shows and entertainment, and assortment of carnival foods, rides, games, and more! This is a Triad must-do in the fall! 

Local Attractions

Shane’s Sporting Clays

Shane’s Sporting Clays is one of our favorite fall activities in the Triad. Shane’s is nestled in Summerfield and offers 14 shooting stations. If you are a shotgun fanatic, or have never held a shotgun in your life, you can have fun at Shane’s. They teach you everything you need to know and soon you’ll be breaking clays with ease! 

Greensboro Science Center

The Greensboro Science Center is such a special place in the Triad. It doesn’t matter how old you are, everyone has fun here. They have spent many years expanding the Science Center which now includes an extensive zoo and aquarium, as well as learning exhibits that focus on weather, dinosaurs, fossils, and more. Be sure to try out the SkyWild ropes course that is weaved throughout the trees in the zoo area. 

Kaleideum

Kaleideum is an engaging and educational destination for all ages in Winston-Salem. With interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, it fosters a love for science, technology, and creativity. Visitors can explore fascinating displays, spark their curiosity, and enjoy a fun-filled learning experience. The new Downtown Kaleideum is set to open in the spring of 2024.
