A Scouted Guide to the Perfect Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the favorite time of year for us at The Scout Guide Bergen County. With Volume 4 almost off to the presses, we have some time to enjoy our family, friends and of course the food and festivities of the Thanksgiving week. It is now our job to share how we make Thanksgiving stress-free by finding everything we need to have a beautiful gathering here in Bergen County.

Support local while appreciating the ones you are sharing Thanksgiving with!

Without further adieu, here is how we will be making the most of the big day by utilizing our beloved Bergen County businesses!

First on our list is planning our Thanksgiving feast starting with breakfast. Whether your day starts with the Upper Saddle River 5K Turkey Trot or a seat on your cozy couch to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, we suggest you order Petal Dust Cakery scones to start your morning. Our favorite is the everything bagel cheddar cheese chive scone – trust us, this is the perfect accompaniment for your coffee. And don’t forget to order your Thanksgiving pies, cookies and cakes so that you can pick up breakfast and dessert at the same time.

Once your morning is started, it is time to get the turkey into the oven. If you have not yet discovered our foodie go-to’s for all Holiday celebrations, we suggest you do that right now : B&M Market, Park Ridge and Peppercorn Events, River Vale.

Jonathan at B&M Market, will help you determine exactly what is needed for your gathering. Try the fresh Jaindl whole turkey, cleaned, tied, seasoned with imported French butter, herbs, stock & in a pan ready for the oven. The B&M team can also cook the turkey for you if you prefer to keep your oven clean. In addition to turkey, B&M Market has appetizers and sides ready for you as well. May we suggest the tuna tartare on a edible spoon for an appetizer, the brown butter maple whipped sweet potatoes and you can’t go without Jonathan’s gravy (he even has gluten free gravy). It’s all right here.

If elegance and ease is the way you role, let Jess Ford of Peppercorn Events, plan your Thanksgiving from start to finish. Jess and her extraordinary team have Thanksgiving selections made easy. You can choose the Thanksgiving package for 4-6 featuring the Closter Farm local turkey, gravy, 3 amazing sides and her signature delectable desserts. If you simply need an appetizer, sides and a dessert lighten your load, Peppercorn Events can also help you with their a la carte menu. Some TSG favorites are the butternut squash risotto balls, maple sriracha brussels sprouts, green bean casserole and the apple strudel for dessert. Check out the amazing menu right here.
