On National Adoption Day, Saturday November 21st, The Scout Guide Palm Beach attended the Selfless Love Foundation’s National Adoption Day ‘Shop for a Cause’ Event at the Royal Poinciana Plaza. It was a wonderful day filled with many families who had adopted children through the Selfless Love Foundation (SLF). It is such a selfless act to adopt a child and it was wonderful to see the numerous families who attended the event how their lives had truly been changed for the better — not only the children, but the parents, too!

The Royal Poinciana Plaza was filled with balloons, live music and activities for both the parents and the kids! Overall, the ‘Shop for a Cause’ Event was a huge success which raised more than $100,000 that will go to supporting the “efforts of finding families for foster children and being an extension of family for foster youth transitioning to adulthood.” It was a fun family day which was needed by everyone, especially during these trying times. Coming together with family is so important and Ii was so amazing to see first hand how this cause has touched and changed so many lives! 

More than 400 foster children have been matched with families through SLF across the State of Florida in less than three years. Although everyone was required to wear masks and to keep socially distanced, the event which was held outside in the center of the plaza, had a more upbeat vibe than it had felt in months. It was filled with pink balloons, fun music and children of families running around with huge smiles. 

The shop-for-good event featured a DJ booth with an electric violinist named KAT V, cooking decorating for the kids, a photobooth for family photos, and a scavenger hunt with the first 100 to finish won $150 “swag bags” filled with full-size product from It’s a 10 Haircare Products. Meanwhile, parents and shoppers could enjoy Patrón Tequila-infused Bowdee’s Organic Shave Ice, Artist Olivia Hughes’ hand painted custom champagne bottles, and Beau Joie Rosé and bubbles. To top it off, a raffle sponsored by Lugano Dimonds offered a piece of jewelry valued at $25,000 which was won by Scott and Kirsten Zankl of Boca Raton! 

Along with these fun activities, shops at The Royal including: Alice + Olivia, Badgley Mischka, Bognar & Piccolini, Cremieux, Kirna Zabête, Lingua Franca, LoveShackFancy, Oscar De La Renta, Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa, Rani Arabella, Renny & Reed, Roller Rabbit, Zadig & Voltaire, and Zimmerman gave a percentage of their sales during the event to SLF. It was such a great day and a wonderful way to kick -off the holiday season by giving back.
