Micah White: Preacher Pottery

Explore Your Creativity at Preacher Pottery

Micah White has always been drawn to pottery and its potential to provide a sense of calm and connection to the world around us. As a local pastor and hobbyist, Micah and his wife Taylor decided to open Preacher Pottery in January 2021. Their studio provides local residents the opportunity to explore their creative side, learn the art of pottery, and enjoy the unhurried pace of creating something beautiful.

Preacher Pottery offers customers a unique experience. With seven to nine lessons a week, customers can take part in Monday and Wednesday evening classes, Tuesday and Friday day classes, and two monthly workshops. Preacher Pottery also produces its own line of pottery, including full tableware and home decor.

The Name Behind the Business

When Micah and Taylor opened Preacher Pottery, they decided to keep the name Micah had been using for his hobby. As Micah explains, “I was a local pastor and pottery was my hobby, when we opened the studio we felt like that was still true to who I was and there was no reason to really change it.”

The Mission of Preacher Pottery

The mission of Preacher Pottery is to provide access to the experience of learning pottery lessons and helping people connect with themselves through the process. As Micah explains, “pottery is something that a lot of people have thought of trying at some point. It’s a medium people have interest in, and once they try it they connect with that childlike exploration of something new. Our clients become very drawn to it because it’s so tactile.”

The mission of Preacher Pottery is also to provide a place for people to explore their creativity and to slow down and enjoy the journey. As Micah explains, “it occupies your mind but not in a stressful rushed way. Once you’ve created something you gain a major sense of accomplishment. Many people haven’t had that feeling since they were a kid, and you find yourself being so proud of something that you made.”

What Makes Preacher Pottery Unique

Preacher Pottery is unique in many ways. The studio offers a variety of classes and workshops for all levels and experience, and also for those who want a long-term learning experience or just a fun date night. It’s also a “judgment free” space where students can find a supportive and encouraging environment. Preacher Pottery also offers its own line of pottery, which includes full tableware and home decor.

Micah and Taylor’s Love for Oklahoma City

Micah and Taylor are proud to call Oklahoma City home. They love the way OKC is constantly reinvesting in itself and constantly becoming a better place to live and raise a family. Their love for Oklahoma City is evident in the way they support local businesses and engage with their community. They support local businesses by shopping at farmers markets, attending art shows, and patronizing local shops and restaurants. They also believe in giving back to their community by donating to local charities and supporting causes that are important to them.

Micah, Taylor and Preacher Pottery are a testament to the power of creativity and connection to the world around us. With its variety of course options, its own line of pottery, and its commitment to providing access to the experience of learning pottery, Preacher Pottery is helping to create a more meaningful and slower paced world, while being a great example of how small businesses can make a big difference in their communities.
