The verdict is in: walking is the closest we’re getting to the fountain of youth (besides, Botox, duh). And whether you’re in search of a new vista or post-walk snack, a stroller-friendly path or a solo stroll, we’ve curated a list of local favorite hikes and walks, from Back Bay to Balboa Boardwalk.

For solo walks… Opt for Back Bay Loop Trail to enjoy 10.5 miles of peace, quiet, and good views.

For power walks… Head straight down the Peninsula (3-miles) or walk Pier to Pier.

For walks that end with a treat… Walk Balboa Island so you can stop at Dad’s Donuts. Or, if you’re in search of a healthier treat stroll the streets of CDM and end at Zinc Café.

For walking with littles… With flat, paved walkways Castaways Park is a stroller-friendly option. Parents with nature-loving or curious littles will also love Upper Newport Bay.

For dog walks… Enjoy the 3-mile paved multi-use bluff trail at Crystal Cove (Access from I-5, 405 and 73).

For beach walks… Crystal Cove State Beach is a favorite. Pro Tip: End at Beachcomber and stay for the traditional martini flag raising.

For scenic walks… Feel like you’re worlds away on The Buck Gully Trail (872 Poppy Ave), 1,200 acres of coastal watershed tucked between development in and around Newport Beach.

For walks that turn into a run (or vice versa)… Balboa Boardwalk or Upper Newport Back Bay Nature Preserve (2301 University Drive).

For walks to get the tea… We recommend walking Pier to Pier on the Balboa Boardwalk or looping Balboa Island. If the gossip is really good, add in Little Balboa.

For a hike and brunch situation… El Moro Canyon has a few trail options that vary by length and difficulty. Reward yourself for the hard work at one of Newport Beach’s Favorite Brunch Spots.
