With launch in less than a week, it’s high time we reflected on the guide that’s been a year in the making and looked forward to what’s ahead. It’s been a whirlwind of scouting, shooting, and supporting local. And though I’m Newport Beach born and bred, I now know our seaside city — and the people who make it such a special place to live, work, and play — on a deeper, more meaningful level.

Newport Beach marries the best of beach living with an easy sophistication that feels utterly unlike anywhere else. I’ve aimed to capture that in both Volume 1 of The Scout Guide Newport Beach (again, launching next week — can you believe it!) and the stories we’ve told leading up to the launch, whether it’s a Newport Beach gardening guide or a dock & dine cheat sheets. My hope is that it deepens your connection to Newport Beach from Crystal Cove to Lido Isle, whether you’re a longtime local or a weekend warrior.

Pop into Juxtaposition Home for one-of-a-kind finds, work up a sweat at OC’s favorite pilates studio, look to Kelly Nutt for design inspiration (or an outright redesign), celebrate the big (and little) stuff at A Restaurant, immerse yourself in local history at Balboa Island Museum, let Victoria Kennedy introduce you to your new favorite artist.

Or, in other words, let locals guide you. They will, as they have for me, introduce you to a wealth of inspiring ways to discover (or rediscover) Newport Beach. Because whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through, Newport Beach has much to offer.
