Amy Koellner’s longtime love for her community and her penchant for practical and elegant interior decorating led to the creation of PROVIDENCE LANE, an outstanding personalized window covering business serving the Park Cities, Preston Hollow, Bluffview and surrounding areas. Providence Lane’s growth through the years has enabled Amy to expand her offerings to provide clients a personalized solution for any type of window covering. The company offers custom drapes and custom drapery hardware, natural woven grass shades, fabric roman shades, roller shades (with and without motorization), outdoor motorized screens, as well as other options depending on the clients’ needs. Amy prides herself on customer service which includes personalized assistance, onsite sample options and turnkey installations.

Amy and her staff work closely with many talented area interior designers and builders. Their new construction/home renovation program ensures homeowners are able to effectively and efficiently prepare for their window covering needs. Amy explains, “We try to help our clients not only visualize how a window covering will finish off a space, but also prepare ahead during the construction or renovation process to account for how a window covering selection will affect a project’s construction so that our clients have a seamless process all the way around.”

The Providence Lane team works hard to provide window covering solutions that meet any size budget or project. Amy says, “I am so thankful for the support we have received from our local communities. The referrals and repeat business have been a huge blessing and have helped Providence Lane continue to grow and flourish.”

Tell us a little bit about your background and what lead you to start Providence Lane?

For University Park resident, Amy Koellner, creating a personalized window covering business in the Park Cities, Preston Hollow, Bluffview and surrounding areas was a natural decision.  Amy’s love for her community and family as well as her penchant for interior decorating serve as a backdrop for her business.

What is the best piece of advice you can give someone who wants to update their window coverings?

To me, the biggest thing is how the window will function in the space.   Are we after sun protection, beauty?  Are they needing privacy, blackout for sleep?  Figuring out the main goal of each particular opening is how I like to approach each window covering.  Once we determine the functionality, we can then make the appropriate selections to meet their design needs.

How would you define Dallas style? Do Dallas homeowners and designers tend to favor a certain type of covering, such as natural woven shades as opposed to plantation shutters?

Dallas style is trending toward layering with natural grass shades that are a soft complement to the window while providing the light filter and privacy needed in tandem with elegant custom drapes that take the eye up and elongate the room’s height.  Conversely, we see another trend for super clean lines that demand roller shades, which provide a minimalistic solution to privacy and light control.

When you aren’t helping to design and install gorgeous window treatments, do you have any favorite spots that you frequent in Dallas?

With four kids going back and forth to sports and activities, my husband and I love date nights at Café R&D as well as at Hudson House.
