Meet Carlyn McCrory

A proud Texan by choice, Carlyn McCrory originally hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and made Dallas her home during her college years at SMU, where she earned a BA in Marketing and Advertising. Immersed in the city’s vibrant advertising scene, Carlyn found professional success, taking her career to Neiman Marcus, where she spent two years shaping marketing and content strategy. This experience deepened her appreciation for the diverse tapestry of Dallas, from its thriving business landscape to its rich cultural and historical fabric.

Beyond the hustle of her career, Carlyn shares her journey with husband Connor and their American Cocker Spaniel, Kobe. Just recently married in April and building their life together, they envision a future in Dallas, where they plan to settle, and one day, raise a family.

Now, as the editor and owner of The Scout Guide Dallas, Carlyn is excited to bring her marketing expertise and passion for the community to the forefront. In her role, she invites you to join her in the exciting exploration of Dallas’s thriving local businesses and entrepreneurs, unveiling the unique stories that contribute to the city’s vibrant tapestry.

Carlyn Favorite Reasons to Visit

Reason 1

The Vibrant and Diverse Food. “The list of A+ restaurants is seemingly endless. Grab brunch over in Bishop Arts, dinner in Deep Ellum, and a drink in the Harwood District.

Reason 2

The Shopping. “Spend a weekend wandering the Design District for gorgeous antiques and interior décor. Peruse for cutting edge fashion downtown on Main Street or in idyllic Highland Park Village.”

Reason 3

The Arts. “A visit to the Dallas Arts District is an absolute must. The number of arts organizations throughout the city has grown immensely over the past decade and is truly impressive. You can easily spend an entire day exploring the collections of the Nasher Sculpture Museum and the Crow Collection of Asian Art, or catch a performance at the Meyerson Symphony Center or the Moody Performance Hall.”
