Scouted Summer Sippers
The summer of 2022 came in like a wrecking ball, and unless you’ve been hiding in your cellar or basement, at which point we’d like to be friends, it’s been hard to miss the consecutive triple digits. Yet, there is opportunity around every corner, as we don’t see the glass half empty, chipped, or dirty. Instead, there are unlimited possibilities of getting crafty with the fruit juices, spirits, and liquor and engineering some amazing go-to summer sips. Our Volume 4 members weighed in on the topic and include their favorite recipes below!

A quick internet search gets you several versions of this drink (here’s one of our favorites.)
But according to Judith, “Just wing it! Blend watermelon chunks, fresh mint, a squeeze of lemon, and some vodka. It’s best if strained.”
Jennifer shares these two recipes she often uses when she’s out with Lola, a 1979 Piaggio Ápe, but you can make them for your next get-together or just because.
Hibiscus Iced Tea
Steep 6 bags of hibiscus tea in 3 cups of boiling water.
Add a touch of local honey or agave and sweeten to taste.
Chill
Fill each glass 2/3 of the way with ice and tea.
Top with 1/3 of seltzer water
Top with a strawberry garnish
Cherry Frosé Rosé
1 1/2 cups – of frozen cherries
1/2 cup – of frozen pineapple
4 – ice cubes
1 cup of sparkling rosé or regular rose
Puree in a blender
Pour into glasses and top with a rose floater on top.
It seems like I’m seeing Ranch Water references everywhere! There are many different versions, but the consensus seems to be that to do it right, you have to use good tequila!

Aperol Spritz
Equal parts:
Aperol
Prosecco
Club Soda
Garnish with fresh orange.
Paloma
1 oz good Tequila
Fresh Grapefruit Juice
Soda Water
A squeeze of fresh lime.
A little agave if you don’t like the tartness.
Shake and pour over ice.
Garnish with fresh grapefruit.
