Meet Allie Mann

Allie was born and raised in the Midwest. After moving to Idaho in high school, she attended Boise State University (aka “Home of the Blue Turf”), where she graduated with a BA in graphic design. She went on to work in television and radio advertising, but design is her true love, and she’s spent the last 20 years building a career in interior design.

In 2006, after spending 25 years in Boise, Allie moved to the East Coast with her husband, Bryan. She became familiar with The Scout Guide while living in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Richmond, Virginia. When Allie and Bryan returned to Boise after 10 years and saw how much the city had grown and changed, she knew the time was right to bring The Scout Guide to Boise, and quickly began the process of becoming an editor.

When she’s not out scouting, Allie likes to spend her free time traveling, glamping with her husband and dog, Gracie, in their Airstream, running half marathons, studying art history, and reading.

Allie’s Favorite Reasons to Visit

Reason 1

The Outdoors. “The jewel of Boise is the Boise River, which winds through the middle of the city, has over 25 miles of greenbelt paths, and many rapids to float. There are 190 miles of trails in the foothills Ridge to Rivers system, with something for every level of skill. And Bogus Basin, a year-round ski and recreation resort, is just 16 miles from downtown. There is always something to do outside!”

Reason 2

The Arts and Culture. “On any given day, you can find a concert, a festival, a play, a tour, a rodeo, an exhibit, or some other homegrown entertainment option. Our homegrown Tree Fort Music Fest, which happens every March, is in its 7th year.”

Reason 3

The People. “Boise, and the surrounding Treasure Valley, is part big city, part wild west. You’re just as likely to pass someone on a bicycle or in a car, as you are a horse or tractor. Our pioneer spirit shows in the success of our many local business owners, artisans, and entrepreneurs. But we’re never too busy to lend a helping hand.”

WORDS TO LIVE BY:   “When was the last time you did something for the first time?”
