MEET THE EDITOR | Hi there! My name is Beth Alverson and I am the editor/ owner of The Scout Guide Auburn & Opelika.
I first fell in love with the Auburn & Opelika community when I attended Auburn University. My husband, Wade, and I were fortunate to return to Auburn where we raised our three children. We have loved calling Auburn & Opelika home for the last 20+ years.
I am so excited to be bringing The Scout Guide to the Auburn & Opelika community. I want to share the stories and faces behind the local businesses that make our community so special.
The Scout Guide is an annual publication that advocates and elevates local businesses and will be joining a network of 95+ other cities across the country.

LAKE MARTIN, AL | Did you know TSG Auburn & Opelika also includes businesses in Tallapoosa County? One of our favorite spots is Lake Martin!
Lake Martin is a man made lake created in the early 1900’s. The lake is located in parts of Coosa, Elmore, and Tallapoosa counties. It is a 44,000 acre reservoir featuring over 700 miles of shoreline. Lake Martin is a popular spot for both Auburn and Opelika locals as well as visitors from all over the Southeastern United States.

DOWNTOWN OPELIKA | Opelika, Alabama located in Lee County was founded in 1854. Opelika is known for its railroad history which helped earn its nickname and slogan “Opelika, an old railroad town”. While the stores and restaurants might be different today, you can look at old photos of Downtown Opelika and see all the familiar structures.
We can’t wait to showcase all that Opelika has to offer!
