Make it a match. The “set” is a great way to transition between seasons, thanks to its ability to be worn together or as separates. Colleen Canale, buyer and stylist at Kittie Kyle in Memphis, Tennessee, explains that a set serves as an easy option when in a time crunch, and lends to a more polished look.

Loafers you will live in. “Lug sole loafers are a refreshing and edgy twist on a classic,” Amy Gardner, owner of Scarpa in Charlottesville, Virginia, explains. “These shoes can instantly amp up a relaxed outfit or give a cool edge to a more polished look.” Gardner recommends trying the trend out with one of her current favorites—the Pedro Garcia Sebas loafer.

Go monochrome. The experts agree, there is something oh so chic about a monochromatic look for fall. Sydney Price, marketing and social media manager of FeBe Clothing in Metairie, Louisiana, suggests trying out this style with luxe chocolate brown tones. Gardner agrees that monochromatic or tonal dressing can be an effortless way to level up an outfit this season. She notes that it is best executed when you blend different textures and fabrics, as shown by this totême turtleneck paired with crepe suit trousers

Add layers for interest. Seasonal dressing is all about layering, the ideal solution for those warm days and cooler evenings. Canale is singing the praises of a versatile mesh turtleneck, like this one, which can be used for layering underneath a shift dress or with a belted trouser.

Be bold with boots. “Knee-high boots are back and better than ever,” explains Katie Jarvis, co-founder of Quinn in Richmond, Virginia. “Boots like these will be a wardrobe staple all season long, and can be worn with anything from dresses to denim.”

Keep it classic on top. According to Kristin Ernst, owner of Grove Hill ATX in Austin, Texas, this fall will be seeing less ruffles and puffy sleeves in exchange for a more basic silhouette. “You can never go wrong with a button-up blouse or shirt dress this season,” she says. “Pair them with a boot or sneaker and some fun jewelry to complete the look.”

Wear a wide leg. Flattering denim? Yes please! Ernst advocates for adding a wide legged option to your regular jean rotation. “Not only does this style work well on a range of different body types, they can be styled in a myriad of ways.”

Sneakers with everything. A go-to accessory again this season, Price, who prefers her sneakers paired with a dress, confirms that a cute sneaker is the fashion workhorse that every wardrobe needs.

Level up with leather. Whether you opt for natural or vegan leather, Jarvis has pinpointed this statement-making wardrobe addition as a must-have for fall. Available in many different styles, this Tyler Boe dress is the perfect combination of edgy and feminine.
