West Texas Editor Claire Rimerez

Meet Claire Stallings Ramirez

Claire is a born-and-raised Midlander and a proud fifth-generation West Texan. She left her hometown after high school to become a Baylor Bear, and after graduating took off for the big city of Houston where she worked as a corporate event coordinator for a variety of industries. There, she met Martin, the love of her life, through a modern-day matchmaker (Snapchat) and the happy couple decided to move back home to Midland and start a family. After relocating, Claire helped create an elevated pop-up shopping experience that was unique to that part of Texas. After three years of growing the business, she was ready for a new adventure, and that is when the opportunity arose to become the first editor of The Scout Guide West Texas. Claire couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter and is eager to begin highlighting local businesses and introducing them to her community in an innovative and beautiful way.

Claire’s Favorite Reasons to Visit

Reason 1

Summer sunsets and country concerts. Nothing captures the beauty of West Texas better thanseeing your favorite Texas country band with the backdrop of a breathtaking West Texas sunset. These are some of my favorite life memories!

Reason 2

Friday Night Lights. If you are a fan of the TV show then you are going to love the real thing. Experiencing a West Texas football game on a Friday night is something you will always remember. The buzz from the small Texas town and the out-of-this-world Frito pies from the concession stand will make the trip worth it alone.

Reason 3

Chicken fried steaks and Ranch Waters. West Texans like to take credit as the originators of the chicken fried steaks and the Ranch Water cocktail. If that is completely true, I am not sure, but one thing I do know is visitors should be sure to stop at Opal’s Table in Midland or Jett’s Grill in Marfa to have a meal of a lifetime.
