Meet Mary Kaufman

Mary Kaufman was born in Virginia Beach and lived in both Richmond and Charlotte during her childhood years. Her family moved back to southern Virginia when Mary was ten years old so that they could be close to their large extended family. After graduating from Christopher Newport University, Mary met and married her now husband and started her own small business. She began working with The Scout Guide in her area as Creative Director and was thrilled to step into the role of editor in 2019. Mary is thankful for her opportunity to shine the light on the small businesses that make the Tidewater region so special. When she isn’t scouting, you can find Mary with her husband and three children on the beach in Sandbridge or checking out new places to shop and eat around town.

Mary’s Favorite Reasons to Visit

Reason 1

The beach. From Sandbridge to the North End and even Ocean View, there is a beach for everyone.

Reason 2

The farms. Tidewater is home to everything from peanut to strawberry farms, and who doesn’t love wide open spaces?

Reason 3

The people. There is something about the people here that appeals to visitors and draws others to plant their roots in the area. You’ll find southern hospitality alive and well in Tidewater, Virginia.
