A new Jupiter waterfront, Courtesy of Charlie & Joe

It’s not every day you get to sit down with a Nationally celebrated athlete to discuss his career pivot and successful business ventures.

Even more unusual when they’re in your sunny South Florida county!

You may have heard of the man in question before – his track record includes a 13-year tenure as one of football’s most exciting, proficient and publicized quarterbacks.

He’s a three-time AFL All-Star and member of the AFL’s All-Time team.

He played in a Superbowl (which he famously “guaranteed” a success for), had stints on tv shows and commercials, and now, has started a successful multi-location business on the Jupiter Waterfront.

Still guessing who we’re talking about?

We didn’t think so.

Without further ado; Joe Namath, Co-founder of the buzzy new “Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street”.

TSG: We love what Love Street has done for the Jupiter Waterfront. Tell us about the inspiration behind the project.

JN: The concept for Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street grew out of my fondness for the Jupiter area. It’s a devotion I share with my business partner and longtime friend, Charlie Modica. We wanted to create a destination that inspires fun, while maintaining the area’s values and traditions.

TSG: How did Charlie and Joe decide to partner in this specific capacity?

JN: Charlie and I have been friends for a long time, and Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street was a passion project for us. Charlie loved the Jupiter Inlet Village, so he purchased the land for Charlie & Joe’s in 2011. Our goal was to create a destination for locals to enjoy the water and the views.

TSG: Why Jupiter?

JN: Jupiter is where Charlie and I call home, and we wanted to express the town’s exciting, nautical culture, and deep fishing roots within the community.

TSG: Describe each of the four venues in one sentence.

JN:

Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse is a cozy raw bar offering fresh seafood and craft beers, with vintage-inspired, nautical designs that’s reminiscent of an early 20th century fishery.

BEACON is a contemporary American grille that gives the warmth of a neighborhood restaurant, with the attention to detail of a distinctive dining destination.

Topside at the Beacon is a rooftop tapas bar and craft cocktail lounge that has Polynesian-inspired tropical décor, with unmatched views of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.

The Tacklebox is a boutique seafood market that offers chef-inspired, takeout sandwiches, salads, poke bowls, and an array of accompaniments to pair with the selection of fish caught by the local fishermen that day.

TSG: Best spot for:

Live music? Topside at the Beacon

Happy hour go-to? Lucky Shuck

Romantic date night? BEACON

Sunset views? Topside at the Beacon

Favorite bite at all the venues?

JN: The Broadway Burger at Lucky Shuck. It’s my signature burger made with cheddar cheese, fried green tomatoes, gem lettuce, grilled red onion, house rémoulade, and served on a brioche bun.

TSG: What should people know about Love Street that they otherwise may not?

JN: Charlie and I share a passion for boating and fishing, and we understand how it is a big part of Jupiter’s history. This inspired Charlie and I to promise commercial fishermen the continued use of the piers at Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street. We want to wholeheartedly support their industry, and the fish caught by locals are served at our restaurants.

Jennifer Cantin, Director of Marketing & Development for Lessing’s Hospitality Group, will take it from here.

TSG: We’ve been seeing so many photos from the Pelican Club! What types of events do you host?

JC: The Pelican Club hosts weddings, galas, charitable events, social celebrations, and corporate gatherings.

TSG: What do you offer in terms of party planning, catering etc.?

JC: Lessing’s Hospitality Group offers exquisite catering that pairs exceptional cuisine with remarkable hospitality. Our seasoned chefs created carefully crafted dishes with the freshest ingredients, including fresh seafood from our local waters. We also partner with a curated selection of trusted, well-vetted vendors to assist in event planning.

TSG: How far out do you generally book?

JC: Prime weekend dates are generally booked two years in advance. On weekdays there is more availability for galas, corporate events, and fundraisers. Lessing’s Hospitality Group also hosts events at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach and the Crane Club in Port St. Lucie, so there are many options for planning your event.

TSG: We’ve also noticed some major press from the knot and more, including being a ‘best of weddings’ recipient. What do you think sets the venue apart?

JC: The Pelican Club is a tropical oasis, with a flexible indoor/outdoor function space that sits against the backdrop of the historic – and iconic – Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. The four-acre parcel is one of the most coveted waterfront properties in the area, with uninterrupted views and natural sunlight. Also, our ballroom is 7,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 450 guests. The venue is tastefully decorated with touches of bold, rich hardwood floors, and 150 feet of floor-to-ceiling glass windows that frame an unforgettable, panoramic view.

TSG: How do I get in touch if I’m curious about hosting an event?

JC: You can inquire about events by calling 561-693-5063, or by visiting our website at pelicanclubjupiter.com.

TSG: Why was it significant to partner with The Scout Guide?

JC: We want the community to learn about our slice of paradise here in Jupiter, Florida, and the great local businesses the area has to offer.

TSG: Any exciting events/partnerships on the horizon?

JC: The Bachelorette star Tyler Cameron, a Jupiter, Florida, native, will be hosting his annual charity gala on October 26. The gala benefits the Andrea C. Cameron Foundation, which was named after his late mother. The foundation offers scholarships for eligible students to give them a brighter future.

We want to share our love for Jupiter and help local students achieve their highest potential. They are our future!
