Dawn and David Pumpelly, TSG Huntsville and Greenville owners

Meet Dawn and David Pumpelly

Though Dawn Pumpelly grew up in Philadelphia, she always had an affinity for Huntsville and visited often throughout her childhood and during her college years at Sewanee. Finally she and her husband David put down roots in Huntsville in 2003, joining her family’s senior living company. When Dawn and David stepped away from the day-to-day operations of the family business, Dawn knew she wanted to be actively involved in the local Huntsville’s community.

Energized by how the Huntsville area is developing into a rich, diverse locale and by the commitment of so many others around her to making it a special place to live, Dawn decided to bring The Scout Guide to Huntsville in 2018. As editor of The Scout Guide Huntsville, Dawn has the opportunity to celebrate the best of local businesses, artists, makers and entrepreneurs, enabling locals and visitors alike to experience and support the growth of the vibrant Huntsville / Madison County area.

Today, Dawn serves as editor and she and David serve as co-owners of TSG Huntsville and TSG Greenville. They live in Huntsville with their English Springer Spaniel MooMoo and cheer on their son who is a painting student at Rhode Island School of Design. They love traveling, hanging out with friends at their second home in Sewanee, entertaining out-of-the-town guests, spending time outdoors, and skiing.

Dawn’s and David's Favorite Reasons to Visit

Reason 1

The people! We live in a big / small community where everyone is committed to making it a nice place to live. People you meet out and about make eye contact and say “hello”. There’s a spirit of volunteerism, with many families, community leaders, business people, scientists, engineers, and folks in the military giving their time and money to causes close to their hearts that benefit our community. It’s easy to take it for granted, but when I travel from Huntsville and experience another community, I realize just how special we are.

Reason 2

The arts! In a city that owes its livelihood to rockets, technology, and the military, we have an amazingly vibrant arts scene with museums, galleries, festivals and so much more. We are a great balance of right and left brain, and I love it that way.

Reason 3

The food! The growing food, shopping and entertainment scene is really popping now with many new and exciting places to eat, drink, shop and hang out. From beer gardens to fine dining restaurants – and everything in between – we cover all the bases. Just learning about all of the new ventures opening or coming to Huntsville can keep you busy for days.
