Meet Shani Canillas

Originally from The Ozarks in Missouri, Shani Canillas currently resides in Larimer County, Colorado, with her fiance, their combined five children, two dogs, and two cats.

After receiving a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Shani worked for a couple local businesses, including local government. She spent much of her career managing proposal development teams. From this role, Shani moved into account management and business development. Here her love for building relationships, attending community events, and working to foster strong partnerships blossomed.

After moving to Fort Collins, Shani’s passion for all things local began to emerge, influenced by the strong entrepreneurial spirit in the community, with local businesses like Otterbox and New Belgium beer, calling it their home. Shani quickly became obsessed with all the local restaurants, fitness studios, boutiques, music, and major local events such as Bohemian Nights, Taste of Fort Collins, and New West Fest. She has been a resident of the area for 21 years and is proud to live, shop, eat, relax, and grow her circle of community friends in and around Fort Collins.

When the opportunity to become the owner of The Scout Guide Fort Collins presented itself, Shani’s dreams of owning her own business felt like the calling she had been searching for. She believes that small business owners are the driving force behind the culture of Fort Collins and a key component to the community’s long standing reputation as a best place to visit.
