Celebrate Independence Day in Charleston

It’s hard to believe that Independence Day is just around the corner – but there’s no better place the celebrate than in Charleston! 

Here are ways that you can join in on the July 4th festivities! 

A History Tour with Walk & Talk Charleston

Charleston had a huge role in our Country’s independence, including having the first tea party (yes, before the Boston Tea Party) in 1773! Aside from our obvious historical sites such as Fort Moultrie, Provost Dungeon, the Powder Magazine, and more, learn about the other little known facts during a walking tour with Walk & Talk Charleston. 

Celebration in the Circle | The Charleston Place

The ultimate Independence Day affair, The Charleston Place’s Summer in the City Celebration on July 4th will include an upscale barbecue feast accompanied by handcrafted ice cream paninis, sparklers, live music, a visual light show projection on the building and children’s activities.

Space is limited and reservations are required. 

Independence Day Festival at Kiawah

Festival Highlights
7:00pm: Musket Shooting
7:10pm: Annual Watermelon Eating Contest
9:15pm: Fireworks, Night Heron Soccer Field

This festival will kick off following the Annual Bike Parade at Night Heron Park with many attractions for family and friends to enjoy! Festivities include live music, carnival games, inflatables, a photo booth, and more! Select attractions and crafts $3 – $15.

During the festival, be certain to visit with the 2nd Regiment, South Carolina Continental Line located on the in the Nest Parking Lot. On display will be revolutionary war muskets, equipment and clothing worn by regular soldiers, militia and riflemen. The Regiment is proud to share stories of the American Revolution and the lives of the soldiers, and families that marched with them. 

Fireworks Blast at Patriots Point

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will continue the tradition of being the Lowcountry’s destination for patriotism this 4th of July. The home of the historic aircraft carrier USS Yorktown will kick off a free 4th of July Fireworks Blast celebration on shore at 6 p.m. The event includes live music, food trucks, and a fireworks show over Charleston Harbor.

Daniels Island Independence Day Celebration

Celebrate Our Country, Our Freedom, and Our Nation’s Birthday by making Daniel Island one of the “Most Patriotic Towns in America. Paint the Town Red, White, and Blue, and join us for Daniel Island’s Independence Day festivities on Sunday, July 2nd with neighbors, friends, and family.

Dress up your homes, your businesses, your bikes, and your golf carts with patriotic colors, and take part in our island tradition of honoring this wonderful holiday.

Fireworks on Folly Beach

On July 4, 2023, Folly Beach will celebrate the 4th of July with a huge fireworks display hosted by the Folly Association of Business (FAB). Locals and visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the Independence Day show.

10th Annual ‘Murica Bar Crawl on King  Street

For those who are looking for some 21+ fun, put on your best red, white, and blue attire (funny shirts, dresses, jorts, fanny packs, socks, underwear, sunglasses, glow sticks, beads, and any other accessories are recommended) and celebrate the birth of this great nation that we call home.

Grab your friends, co-workers, your distant relatives, that awkward Hinge date from last week, and join us as we celebrate our country’s independence with the most patriotic event in Charleston, the ‘Murica Bar Crawl!!
