A Citrus-Inspired Soiree for Volume 8

At The Scout Guide Birmingham, it is our privilege to tell the stories of Birmingham’s most innovative and interesting residents. But it is our pleasure to bring them together.

Each year, we celebrate the launch of our latest volume in style (take a peek at last year’s launch, hosted at Shoppe). Inspired by the guide it celebrates – and the creatives, entrepreneurs, and innovators featured within its pages – the launch event is Scouted Members’ exclusive preview of the newest volume and, perhaps most importantly, the first of many TSG-curated opportunities to connect with like-minded Birmingham residents.

Bound in a bright orange, it was only fitting that this year’s launch party was a citrus-inspired celebration. To echo the bold cover colors of Volume 8, we chose an equally captivating venue. Longtime TSG member Laura Vogtle, Owner + Founder of Design Supply, graciously hosted fellow members in her stunning Pepper Place showroom.

Guests, which included Volume 8 Members and friends of TSG, received their first peek at Volume 8 cover colors (traditionally a secret until launch) courtesy of a new addition to Volume 8, Eliza Bishop, owner and creative genius behind the oft-Instagramed Paper Eliza. It was such a treat collaborating with Eliza on the party. She created the most darling save-the-dates, invitations, and day-of signage.

Upon arrival at Design Supply’s showroom, guests were greeted with another hint of Volume 8 colors, an Aperol Spritz. Drinks in hand, Volume 8 members, guests, and friends of TSG – including longtime TSG Birmingham copywriter Makenzi Hogan and TSG Knoxville Editor Frances King – enjoyed their first look at Volume 8.

With spreads and stacks of guides scattered throughout Design Supply’s many gorgeous vignettes, guests wandered, browsed, and, in typical TSG fashion, customized a copy of Volume 8 courtesy of hand-calligrapher Bess Booth. Guests also stocked up on the latest guides from beloved destinations across the Scouted network.

It was a delightful evening buoyed by tunes from Suaze, cocktails, and conversation. Relegating the more conventional light bite approach of happy hour gatherings, we opted for slices from Pizza Grace. To finish? Scoops from Big Spoon Creamery

Thank you so much to Mary Glenn McElveen of Styled by M.G. for outfitting us for the evening; photographers Caroline Borders and Mary Fehr for so beautifully capturing the event; Design Supply for hosting us; and, most importantly, Volume 8 for joining us to celebrate Birmingham’s incredible local business community.
