7 Things Our Southlake & Grapevine Editor Is Loving Right Now

As advocates for small businesses, The Scout Guide editors are continually scouting their communities for local finds to share and celebrate. We caught up with The Scout Guide Southlake & Grapevine editor Ashlyn Lawson to find out what she’s really excited about these days. Here, she shares a few of her current obsessions, from her back-to-school shopping must to the inspiring podcast she never misses.

1. What I’m Gifting

Cowboy Boot Matches from Roanoke Trading Company | “Roanoke Trading Company is my go-to when it comes to gifts. They have everything you need for a baby shower, hostess, wedding, birthday… you name it. The last time I was there I picked up a few sets of their Cowboy Boot Matches paired with Mini Volcano candles to have on hand when I need a last minute hostess gift.”

2. What I’m Doing

Attending “The Real Unreal” Exhibition at Meow Wolf | “I was invited to preview the new Meow Wolf “The Real Unreal” exhibition that just opened in Grapevine and wow,  was I blown away by the experience. I’ll be visiting again soon to take a deeper dive into the immersive art and storytelling. Meow Wolf has “Portals” in Denver, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and now Grapevine. So if you get the chance, definitely check out this unique experience for yourself!”

Diamond Tennis Bracelet from D Flawless Concierge Jewelers | “Darla is an expert at her craft and every time I pop into her store I’m amazed at the new pieces she’s custom designed for her clients. My five year wedding anniversary is this year and if my husband doesn’t give her a call, he’ll be in the dog house! D Flawless also carries a wide variety of luxury labels for those on the hunt for a nice piece of designer jewelry.”

4. What I’m Listening To

What’s Your Shine? Happy Podcast | “I love this podcast by Dr. Claudia Beeny, author and founder of House of Shine. She highlights the unique stories of people doing cool things in their communities. They are an easy listen and always leave me feeling inspired.”

5. What I’m Using

Elta MD Sheer SPF and Antioxidant Supplement from Greer Dermatology | “Summers in Texas are brutal and wearing daily face sunscreen is a must. I’ve used the EltaMD line of products for years and especially love their Sheer SPF for daily wear under regular makeup. Recently I’ve added an antioxidant pill to my routine, as a recommendation from my dermatologist, Dr. Greer. She has all of her recommended products available online, and you can even set up auto ship based on how often you use them. I’m a sucker for anything that keeps me looking younger and automatically ships right to my door.”

6. Where I’m Going

Urbanology Cottage by HGTV designer Ginger Curtis of Urbanology Designs | “Staycations or quick weekend getaways are all we’ve had time for due to new jobs and our kids’ crazy sports schedules. I’ve loved discovering fantastic places all within a short drive! My next trip is to downtown Weatherford to stroll their square and enjoy some outdoor fall patio weather. It’s less than an hour from Dallas/Fort Worth and we’re staying at Urbanology Cottage, a charming boutique property by HGTV designer Ginger Curtis of Urbanology Designs.”

7. Where I’m Shopping

Back-to-School Shopping at Little Orange Fish Kids | “Back-to-school shopping is in full swing and Little Orange Fish Kids on Grapevine’s Main Street is always on my list because they carry clothing from newborn to tween. I can knock out a fun first day back outfit for all of my kids in one stop. My daughter loves anything with pockets so I have my eye on this pink twirl dress with crayons on it.”
