7 Things Our Tucson & Southern Arizona Editor MaryAnn Wittmann is Loving Right Now

As advocates for small businesses, The Scout Guide editors are continually scouting their communities for local finds to share and celebrate. With their fingers on the pulse, they are also excellent sources of unique recommendations. Recently, we caught up with The Scout Guide Tucson & Southern Arizona editor MaryAnn Wittmann to find out what she’s really excited about these days. Here, she shares her current obsessions, from totally giftable hand-poured candles to her fave brunch playlist.

1.WHAT I’M EATING

Avocado Grapefruit Salad from Live Love Texas // “Citrus season was huge this year and my neighbors’ harvest was overflowing. She gave me over 100 grapefruit, so I was always searching on Pinterest for recipes.  This one was a winner and SO easy. It’s the perfect summer salad.”

2. WHAT I’M DECORATING WITH

Framed Family Portraits from Fletcher and Co. // “I was guilty of having most of my family memories and photos archived on digital files where they couldn’t be enjoyed or shared. You could say, I had family portraiture anxiety, that is until meeting and partnering with Fletcher and Co. They led me through the process seamlessly from initial meeting to whiteglove install. I just adore my gallery wall and the heirloom linen books are treasures that capture our story.”

3. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

Pandora’s Laid Back Brunch Radio // “The title had me at brunch. This station is a cool genre mix that  doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a perfect match for lazy Sundays or chill afternoons with a glass of rose (with ice, please) and perusing The Scout Guide’s new releases. I’m loving The Scout Guide Nantucket’s newest volume.”

4. WHAT I’M WEARING

Alastin HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36 from ZL Med Spa // “Southern Arizona has no less than 350 days of sunshine, so sunscreen is as much a part of our lifestyle and culture as tacos and Wildcat fans. Laura Zimmerman NP-C of ZL Med Spa recommended this broad spectrum sunscreen to me and it has been a game changer. It hydrates and protects my face and neck, and as a bonus it’s tinted so it leaves my face glowing without having to wear an additional pore-clogging foundation.”

5. WHERE I’M GOING

Girls’ Getaway to Garza Blanca Resort & Spa in Los Cabo, Mexico // “This girls’ getaway is long overdue and has been rescheduled twice due to Covid  and scheduling conflicts. I’m grateful to our travel advisor Mandy McKaskle of Creosote Journeys for her expertise and professionalism—it’s a necessity, not a luxury, during these challenging times. I’m counting down the days to my first all-inclusive getaway.”

6. WHAT I’M GIFTING

Hand Poured Candles from Eastland Alley // “These are truly the best smelling candles in all of the land. Added bonus: they are locally owned and women run. With multiple scents to customize and personalize, they are a thoughtful, budget-friendly gift.”

7. WHAT I’M READING

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid // “I’m an avid reader and usually have two to three books of different genres going at a time. One is always historical fiction. I’ve been a part of a generational book club for 15 years and some of the best conversations and debates have been while discussing historical fiction. This particular book won for the Good Reads historical fiction category and piqued my interest as a quick read.”
