URBANA

urbAna is a sophisticated boutique and go-to home store for curated luxury gifts, artisan decor items, party goods, entertaining decorations, and designer furnishings. Owners, Ana and Brian Wells are also proud supporters of local Phoenix artists, designers, and creators.

NEW STORE ANNOUNCEMENT: The original urbAna location in Phoenix has been a popular shopping spot for over five years and in April 2021, Brian and Ana opened their second location at the Scottsdale Quarter. The new store is gorgeous and features all their signature style gift and decor items, as well as additional furniture offerings.

Q: What inspired you to create urbAna?

A: Inspiration struck during a trip to Portland and a visit to Brian’s grandmother, Hazel. We found a simple but powerful photo of Hazel in her 1950’s heyday, hard at work staining some shutters. She was performing a tedious chore, but her energy was inspiring: in the image, she was impeccably dressed, amazingly dignified, and utterly captivating. At that moment, we realized that our future brand was exactly what we felt in our hearts: the desire to recreate the elegance, dignity, and fascination of a bygone but not forgotten era.

Q: What would you like our TSG community to know about you/your business?

A: This is not a store/experience where you will be lost, forgotten, not cared for… we know our customers, we follow through, we take it home with us. If we fall short we apologize and make it up to you, we truly care more about your business than your money. It’s weird to even say, but I’m quite sure it’s the exception rather than the rule today.

Q: Can you share with us a few of your local favorites?

A: Restaurants: Glai Baan, Chelsea’s Kitchen, Durant’s.

Q: Do you have a particular local organization or charity that’s close to your heart?

A: We really like Homeward Bound, Brian also has worked with Big Brother/Sisters of AZ and it’s awesome, would love to do it again.

Q: What do you love about running a business here in the Valley?

A: In the more than 10 years since we first began thinking about owning a shop Phoenix has undergone a renaissance. An increase in population density, forward-leaning development, sophistication, quality, and independent restaurants. We saw it coming and changing and thought we could be a part of it.
