Getting to know Emily Allen and Core Concept Fitness

While we all understand the importance of fitness and its profound impact on both physical and mental health, we also know how unrealistic beauty standards and judgmental, insular workout environments can prevent many people from stepping foot in a gym or a studio.

Fortunately for us, we found Emily at Core Concept Fitness, who “wowed” us with not only her elegant and beautiful hospitality, but also the warmth, authenticity, and philosophy of inclusivity and acceptance.

When dreaming up Core Concept, Emily knew she wanted to throw out the “one-workout-fits-all” model, instead, embracing a goal-based concept, where every client who walked through their doors could become their strongest, healthiest, and happiest self—regardless of shape or size. In the studio, the focus is on flexibility, core strength and balance, as opposed to the reductive and anxiety-inducing weight only approach. They throw out the societal goals, ie. the number on your scale, pant size, inches lost. Instead, the focus is the journey. You will feel better, stronger, and spike your energy, all mentally and physically. Her goal to blend modern workouts with state-of-the-art Pilates reformer equipment in a friendly no-judgment space that fosters community around shared values.

“I consider Core Concept Studio more than just clients and fitness,” Emily told TSG. “It’s a community of friends and fellowship with a shared philosophy of well-being.”

The team credits the studio’s “unique combination of Pilates Reformer, Barre, and Cardio Bounce Training” for fostering the uplifting vibes. “Our high-intensity, low-impact approach is designed to lengthen and tone your muscles, while placing a strong focus on building core strength throughout your journey,” Emily says. “We hope to provide the perfect balance of fun and intense classes that help you improve confidence and achieve your total body fitness goals, regardless of your body type or fitness level.”
