Introducing another new member of ours – meet Marni of Piper By Marni! Read below for more about her and her business.

I am from Madison, WI and came out east to attend Howard University. I currently live in Washington, DC and Bethany Beach, DE. I am married with 5 adult children (4 sons and 1 daughter) and a little fluffy dog. We are a family business, so all my children and husband play a role in the business. Our services include interior organization, interior design, move management, organizational coaching and consulting with businesses seeking organizational assistance.

Three of the individuals are wearing dark tops with collars, two in casual grey sweaters, and one woman in a polka dot dress holding the dog, with another woman in a fitted light-grey top, all smiling at the camera.

Can you tell us about the history of your business and how it got started? What inspired you to start your business?
Piper by Marni started because of my passion for helping others with organization and design needs. I am an inherently organized person and through the years, friends/family have sought my support. After a series of success stories, I decided to turn my passion into a business.

What is a typical day like for you?
Besides making customer site visits and assisting them with decision making and purchases, I spend most days researching organizational and design trends by looking at magazines, visiting design centers, watching design shows, and combing through internet sites. Additionally, I make a daily commitment to self-care. This consists of physical exercise, allowing myself quiet time to be reflective and ensuring a proper diet (high protein and high fiber).

What do you consider to be your biggest success or accomplishment in business so far?
My biggest accomplishment thus far is that our Bethany Beach home (which also serves as a show home for the business) was featured as an episode on The Delmarva Home Show.
What’s something that has surprised you about your chosen career
path?
What’s been most surprising is that most of my customers have their own design eye. They just need someone to unlock it. It is so fun to see how my customers grow through the organization/design process.
What sets your business apart from others in the same industry?
What makes Piper by Marni unique is that we encourage our customers to “shop” their own space first. In other words, looking at one’s existing belongings and discovering how positioning them differently can make a tremendous difference in the look and feel of a space. We encourage our customers to be an active part of the organization/design process.

The best piece of advice you’ve ever received.
Understanding that getting and staying organized is a lifestyle.
What does your ideal day look like?
My ideal days are those that include seeing the thrill and satisfaction of a customer who has a beautiful space in which to thrive. When people who never thought their space could be beautiful experience it… my heart sings.

A woman in a stylish light dress with lace detailing stands on a covered patio with a tropical drink in her hand, showing a playful pose. She smiles softly, flanked by a lush potted plant and a white railing leading to a beach vista. Above, a stormy sky creates a dramatic contrast to the serene setting, evocative of The Scout Guide's flair for capturing local charm and elegance.
