7 Things Our Lubbock Editor Is Loving Right Now

As advocates for small businesses, The Scout Guide editors are continually scouting their communities for local finds to share and celebrate. With their fingers on the pulse, they are also excellent sources for unique recommendations. Recently, we caught up with The Scout Guide Lubbock editor Audra Opperman, to find out what she’s really excited about these days. Here, she shares her current obsessions, from a show-stopping pair of boots to her secret to a dewy complexion.

1. WHAT I’M COVETING

City Boots Limited-Edition Navy Heart Boots | “I’m drooling over these boots! Every Texas girl needs a good pair of boots, and I’m saving all my pennies for these beauts.”

2. WHAT I’M DRINKING

Desert Door Texas Sotol Ranch Water | “I recently went to a private dining event at The Nicolett that featured this Austin-distilled sotol paired with great dishes by chef Finn Walter. If you’re unfamiliar with this spirit, it’s similar to tequila, but distilled with the mature Texas sotol plant, rather than agave. Ranch Water has always been my go-to drink, and ever since then I reach for the Desert Door when I make one.”

3. WHAT I’M GIFTING

Werkshoppe Puzzles | “Puzzles are my go-to gift lately, and Chrome has the cutest options. I just gave this one as a graduation gift!”

4. WHERE I’M SHOPPING

Our Lubbock Small Businesses | “Go-to shopping for myself includes J. Hoffman’s, STOCK Style Shop, Maj Boutique, Chrome, and Drest by Scott Malouf. If I’m shopping for my husband or dad, I typically swing by to see Howard at HG Thrash. When I’m on the hunt for a great gift, I  head to Barque Gifts & Paper or Hulla B’lu.”

5. WHAT I’M WEARING

Lele Sadoughi Ivory Daisy Knot Headband | “If you know me, you know I love a great headband. Lele Sadoughi headbands are my favorite and I always find the cutest ones at Drest by Scott Malouf.”

6. WHAT I’M WATCHING

Yellowstone on Paramount | “I’m getting caught up on the most recent season—it’s the perfect mixture of suspense and drama. Fun fact: One of our TSG Lubbock members, Sam Middleton, sold the 6666 Ranch that is featured in the show and will soon have it’s own spinoff.  It’s one of the largest ranches in West Texas, sprawling over 260,000 acres. You can learn more about Sam here, and read about the sale of this beautiful ranch right outside of Lubbock.”

7. WHAT I’M USING

Zo Skin Health BRIGHTALIVE | “As the years pass, skincare has become so important to me. I love Zo Skin Health. BRIGHTALIVE brightens my skin and evens my complexion. I get all my Zo Skin Health products from my friends at Lubbock Plastic Surgery Institute. They have the friendliest staff and their MedSpa provides the latest in cosmetic procedures. Dr. Schmid and Dr. Mooty keep Lubbock looking young!”
