Our editors are tastemakers in their cities and towns—and as advocates for local businesses, it’s their job to Scout and celebrate their finds. Here, Katie Holocher (left) and McKenna Brooks, editors of The Scout Guide Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky, share a few of their current faves—from a pair of jeans that goes with everything to a gorgeous foodie-forward gift.

1. WHAT I’M DOING

Lots of (local) self-care | “Between long training runs to prepare for Cincinnati’s Flying Pig Marathon in May, I have been frequenting the cold plunge and sauna at Contrast Studios to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and acute pain. I also visit Lotus Integrative Therapy weekly for acupuncture and cupping to prevent past injuries from resurfacing and enjoy a little zen.” – McKenna Brooks

2. WHAT I’M GIFTING

BOTTLE OF OLIVE OIL

Olive Oil from Boards & Beez | “I love to pick up bottles of olive oil from Boards & Beez for literally any gifting occasion—stocking stuffer, hostess gift, birthday token, whatever. They carry a variety of domestic and international brands, many in such beautiful vessels that displaying them on your counter is almost a requirement.” – Katie Holocher

3. WHERE I’M EATING

Everywhere! | We have so many incredible restaurants in our area that a perfect day can easily be spent bouncing around town tasting all that Cincinatti and the surrounding towns have to offer. A good place to start would be Mom ‘n ‘em for an almond latte and their avocado toast, followed by a sandwich at Lehr’s Prime Market. Once the clock strikes five I like to head to happy hour at Emery (the Elderflower + Pear Martini is a must), and finish my day with fresh oysters at Atwood Oyster House.” – McKenna Brooks

4. WHAT I’M WEARING

JEANS

CLOSED Glow Up Jeans | “I have been turning to these jeans from Sloane Boutique even more than I thought I would when I originally purchased them. The ultra-wide leg makes it easy to  dress them up with a heel or down with sneakers. They are a true workhorse in my closet.” – Katie Holocher

5. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO

Turn the Lights Back On by Billy Joel | “This is Billy Joel’s first new song in 17 years! Need I say more?” – McKenna Brooks

6. WHAT I’M READING

BOOK

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin | “I absolutely loved this book. Everyone who said it’s amazing was right! Also on my bookshelf currently is Vladimir by Julia May Jonas, which is both what I expected given the cover (IYKYK) and not, which was a nice surprise, as well as Homebodies by Tembe Denton-Hurst.” – Katie Holocher

7. WHERE I’M GOING

Barre Classes at Barre3 | “I have been a Barre3 Mariemont founding member for the last eight years. It has been the only consistent exercise practice in my life, and I always look forward to going to class. Not only is the workout cathartic for me, but their philosophy on the role exercise should play in one’s life has helped me have a better relationship with my body. “ – Katie Holocher
