7 Things Our Bozeman Editor Is Loving Right Now

As advocates for small businesses, The Scout Guide editors are continually scouting their communities for local finds to share and celebrate. With their fingers on the pulse, they are also excellent sources for unique recommendations. Recently, we caught up with The Scout Guide Bozeman editor/owner Jill King to find out what she’s really excited about these days. Here, she shares her current obsessions, from an all-purpose enameled braiser to her favorite destination in Italy.

1. what i’m decorating with

Antler Pieces from Antler Design Concepts // “Since I’m also a stylist at Styling the New West, I’m always on the lookout for interesting items. The antler pieces from Antler Design Concepts are stunning works of art that evoke a western flare. Their variety of colors and finishes—from high polish bronze and patina stainless steel to powder coated matte white and aqua blue gloss—are suitable for any client’s style.”

2. where I’m traveling

The Villa Sant’Andrea in Taormina, Italy, courtesy of Kristen Meckem Travel // “One of my closest friends, Kristen Meckem of Kristen Meckem Travel, has arranged travel for my husband and me this fall to our favorite Sicilian resort, The Villa Sant’Andrea, in Taormina, on the Bay of Mazzaro. My husband’s great grandparents immigrated from Italy, not too far from this enchanting part of Sicily and it’s our absolute favorite getaway.”

3. what i’m wearing

Custom Hats from Cofer Hat Company // “I’ve had my eye on a cattleman style hat made out of 100X beaver felt for awhile now. Our family owns a cattle ranch, The 46, in Jeffrey City, WY and we ride and move cattle a lot and this hat is classically hearty enough for the wide open range.”

4. What I’m Doing

Needlepointing with Chandail Needlework Supplies // “Year round you can find me needlepointing Christmas ornaments, which include anything from a variety of Santas to manger scenes. I source my needlepoint supplies from Chandail Needlework, the cutest shop in Houston, Texas. My ongoing project is my monogram in chocolate brown and crème on a pillow just for me!”

5. What I’m Coveting

Staub Enameled Cast Iron Braiser from LaCuisine // “This is the perfect pot for any meal of the day—whether searing a ribeye, baking au-gratin potatoes, assembling a breakfast hash, or a saucy dish. It’s oven, grill, and stovetop safe. I’m usually cooking for many guests at our ranch and the vivid Majolica enameling makes it exceptionally beautiful at dinner parties while also being the perfect stove to table vessel.”

6. What I can’t Live Without

PKT Vitamin Packets // “I love these single serving multivitamin powder packets. You just add one to your morning glass of water and you’re good to go. They’re easy to pop in your bag, making them a great, lightweight option when you’re traveling or on-the-go. Since switching over to this formula I never miss my daily dose of vitamins.”

7. Where I’m Dining

The Farmer’s Daughters and Hachi Sushi Pub // “Located in RSVP Bozeman, the cutest retro motel, The Farmer’s Daughters is an adorable cafe where all the dishes are made from scratch to taste like Grandma’s kitchen but with a healthy twist. There are so many delicious options, but my favorite is the turkey and avocado sandwich on local bread made with a bison bone broth. I’m also a regular at Hachi Sushi Pub, the newest offering from the Blue Collar Group. Their rolls are filled with a variety of fish flown in daily from the docks in Honolulu with unique toppings and sauces that create complex flavors and textures you won’t find at just any sushi bar.”
