Get Lacquered Up: Fall Nail Polish Picks

Just as we transition our wardrobes for a new season, we like our nails to reflect the changing calendar. In autumn, this means embracing a slightly moodier, more sophisticated palette…but even with that criteria, sometimes the options can seem endless. To help us make our selections, we polled our always-polished colleagues at TSG HQ on their favorite hues; here are their recommendations:

For a sophisticated statement. Graphic designer Austin Alley isn’t afraid to embrace bold color—so long as it’s a classic. Essie’s “In the Lobby” is her perfect purply-red go-to for fall. The brand describes it as “cinnamon plum,” and what sounds more autumn-appropriate than that?

For a classic red. TSG Digital Director Amanda Powers’s can’t-go-wrong-red is Chanel’s Laque Rouge. The hue packs just the right amount of drama without drifting too far into “look at me” territory.

For a little edge: TSG Charlottesville editor Heather Sieg recommends OPI’s “I Have a Herring Problem” from the line’s Holland Collection. “Its mix of teal, grey, and dusty blue makes it a ‘new neutral, and the gold flecks keep it young and modern,” she explains.
