A Fall-Ready Room

We’re constantly changing things up in our homes, but the arrival of November always initiates a shift in our interiors that complements the seasonal changes. Here are a few of our favorite ways to address the shorter days and lower temperatures in our fall and winter decor:

1. Pile on the velvet pillows. Is there a fabric more perfect for winter than velvet? We think not. Now is the time to accessorize with plenty of velvet pillows—preferably in warm, rich colors.
2. Create a slightly moodier coffee table display. Come fall, we like to rotate our coffee table books to give those with darker cover colors pride of placement, which adds a fall-appropriate, sophisticated vibe to a space.
3. Compensate with candles. Incorporating additional candles into decor doesn’t just make up for lost light as the daylight hours dwindle, it creates a wonderful sense of coziness.
4. Layer on additional throws. This is a no-brainer, but just when we think we have enough blankets on hand, we like to add one more for good measure.
