Red, White, & Booze: A Patriotic Cocktail

This 4th of July Weekend, we’re adding a little festive flair to our drinks with the help of Volume 1’s cocktail experts at The Blue Door. Light and refreshing, the vodka-based cocktail incorporates summer favorites for a red, white, and boozy treat. Stop by The Blue Door to enjoy or whip up your own wherever you are!

RED, WHITE & BOOZE

Ingredients: Yields 1 cocktail

Strawberries

Blueberries

Vodka (extra points if you use a Texas-based brand like Tito’s or Dripping Springs! )

Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice

Simple Syrup*

Mint

Topo Chico

Instructions:

To make simple syrup, simmer one part sugar and one part water until the sugar dissolves. If you prefer a drier cocktail, use .75 oz syrup, for a sweeter cocktail, bump it up to 1 oz.

Muddle 1/4 berries in your cocktail tin

Add ice, 1.5 oz vodka, .5 oz lime juice, .75 – 1 oz simple syrup, 4 mint leaves to the cocktail tin

Shake vigorously

Add ice to your cocktail glass

If you don’t like flecks of fruit, strain cocktail through a small sieve into your glass

Top with Top Chico – or Prosecco if the mood strikes

Garnish with blueberries
