ABOUT TSG TIDEWATER EDITOR MARY KAUFMAN:
Mary Kaufman was born in Virginia Beach and lived in both Richmond, Virginia, and Charlotte, North Carolina, during her childhood years. Her family moved back to southern Virginia when Mary was ten years old so that they could be close to their large extended family in this area. After graduating from Christopher Newport University, Mary met and married her now husband and started her own small business. For five years, Mary rented out vintage furniture for weddings, events, and photo shoots, and her passion for creative direction was born. Mary began working with The Scout Guide in her area as Creative Director from volume four through volume six of The Scout Guide Virginia Beach & Norfolk, and she is excited to step into the role of Editor, which gives her the opportunity to shine the light on the small businesses that make the Tidewater region so rich in culture. When she isn’t scouting, you can find Mary with her husband and three children on the beach in Sandbridge or checking out new places to shop and eat around town.
MARY’S THREE FAVORITE REASONS TO VISIT TIDEWATER:
- The beach. “From Sandbridge to the North End and even Ocean View, there is a beach for everyone.”
- The farms. “Tidewater is home to everything from peanut to strawberry farms, and who doesn’t love wide open spaces?”
- The people. “There is something about the people here that appeals to visitors and draws others to plant their roots in the area. You’ll find southern hospitality alive and well in Tidewater, Virginia”.
WORDS MARY LIVES BY:
“The flower must not forget its roots.”
