Our Favorite Shoes for the Season

Today marks the first official day of winter, and despite the distinct lack of frost on the ground (or even a chill in the air) here in TSG HQ’s hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, we’re embracing the season’s footwear. With so many boots, booties, and party-ready heels to choose from (including the Andre Assous pair shown above in an image from Chattanooga-based Embellish – be sure to follow them on Instagram for fabulous shoe inspiration!), we’re certainly not waiting for the weather to change to treat our toes to some new attire.

When stocking our closet for a new season, we always start with the must-haves. Black boots tend to top that list, and the above Mou Shearling boots from Capitol (left) and Golden Goose Black Painted Charlye riding boots from Charlottesville’s eloise (right), which can be worn everyday—and elevate any outfit—would both be welcome staples.

Having a few slightly dressier black options is imperative. The Emerson Fry Trooper Boots available from Patricia in Pinehurst (left), Vince “Paeyre” Sneaker available from Greenville’s Augusta 20 (top, right), and Dusica Dusica Moto Boot available from New Orleans’s Emma’s Shoes (bottom, right) are all excellent options for a sophisticated, go-to pair that you won’t soon tire of.

Now comes the fun part. We have long advocated for wearing white year-round, and when it comes to indulging in a statement shoe, the hue truly delivers. Exhibit A: Fendi ‘Fantasia’ Sandal available from Marissa Collections in Naples (left); Exhibit B: Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi’ Pump available from Ella-Rue in Washington, D.C. (top, right); Exhibit C: Charlotte Olympia’Vendom’ pumps from Neapolitan Collection in Chicago (bottom, right). Enough said.

For a neutral with a kick, there’s nothing like a metallic. Undeniably chic yet oh so versatile, the Freda Salvador Wit D’orsay Oxford in Anthracite metallic, available from Alexandria, Virginia’s The Shoe Hive, will lead to some seriously happy feet.

Also necessary: a nude heel with plenty of attitude. The Acne Studios “Andrea Dusty Pink Pump”, available from Hampden in Charleston, South Carolina (top) and Rupert Sanderson ‘New Pierre’ pumps available from Capitol in Charlotte (left) are our top pics. And finally, because everyone needs at least one statement shoe per season, we present the Loeffler Randall Scarlet Lace Up Sandal, available from Hampden. Happy shopping!
