October is officially here, and we warmly welcome it every year! September tends to be a month of getting all of our ducks in a row after the slower days of summer are behind us. Back to school transitions, after-school sports activities, longer days at work after those summer vacations, creating more structured schedules for our households, and making all of those doctor and dentist appointments for each family member. September can be a lot and somehow we all strive to keep our heads above water and ease into the next season.

We think a key priority for the Fall season is to assure you get to the right dentist to make sure you and your family maintain a dental hygiene that is in tact as we enter a new school year ahead. We sat down with TSG members, The Dental Spa, to understand the significance of going to your dentist regularly and why it is so important to find a practice that not only you feel comfortable with, but also has the cutting edge technologies to assure you are receiving the best possible service. The Dental Spa has both a Philadelphia and Main Line location that provide dental services unlike any other. Their modern dental office cultivates a spa-like atmosphere so that their patients can kick back and relax in luxury. In addition to the first-class dental services, they also offer complimentary amenities such as hot towels after your treatment, music options for your choosing, custom TV’s with a wide variety of entertainment options, and complimentary drinks upon arrival. It can’t get any better than that! We sat down with The Dental Spa partners and dentist’s, Nicole Deakins and Jeremy Kay, and unveiled more about their practice and what they can provide you as a new patient. We say, get on board and make your appointment this week!

With September always being such a busy month for both kids and adults as we transition back into regular schedules, what would be your biggest word of advice when it comes to reminding patients the importance of scheduling their teeth cleaning and check-up appointments?

The beginning of fall and the back-to-school season is always a very busy time of year!  We like to remind patients that the key to staying on top of our dental health is all about prioritizing routine hygiene appointments. The best way to reduce the risk of future dental needs is to maintain consistent dental hygiene and checkup visits. Depending on the patient’s dental history, these visits may range from every 2 to 6 months. A professional cleaning helps to prevent gum disease and tooth decay; additionally, a routine checkup will identify areas of early tooth decay that can be reversed, as well as detrimental habits (such as tooth grinding and enamel erosion) and will also check for oral cancer. The best way to ensure that these maintenance visits end up on your calendar is to always schedule your next visit before leaving the office!

What we love about The Dental Spa is how you always have the latest advanced technology at your practice to deliver the best possible service to your patients. What are some of the services you have been able to bring to the Main Line and Philadelphia in this past year that makes The Dental Spa so distinctive?

Our goal is to provide the best quality of care in the most comfortable and pain-free manner.  We routinely use our iTero digital scanner to make impression appointments as easy as possible due to the elimination of goopy impression materials that can make you gag and take several minutes to set. Digital impressions are also highly accurate and can increase the predictability of the restorative process. In addition, our CBCT imaging machine allows us to make diagnoses that cannot be identified on a traditional two-dimensional x-ray. This allows us to quickly identify a treatment solution to address the patient’s needs. In addition, this year we have added the Gemini diode laser to our clinical practice, which is not only helpful to the clinician during restorative procedures but can also promote healing of canker sores, tooth extraction sockets, surgical sites, and alleviate muscle pain from TMJ disorders.

What do you enjoy most about helping your patients feel their best when it comes to their smiles?

The phrase “a smile is worth a thousand words” speaks volumes in terms of how a smile transformation can impact a patient’s life. Not only are we improving dental health, which subsequently contributes to improved overall systemic health, but we are also improving a patient’s mental health.  Giving a patient a smile that they are confident about can improve self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being.  In addition to esthetics, we often improve our patient’s comfort and ability to function properly. Knowing that we can improve the quality of life of our patients continues to motivate us to provide the best care and patient experience possible. We also love building relationships with our patients and getting to know them and their families.  The Main Line is a small community network, and we love being a part of it.

To that point, what motivates you most about the career choice you both made to be premier dentists on the Main Line and Philadelphia?

On a professional level, we both are specialized in Prosthodontics to gain extensive knowledge in the field of restorative and cosmetic dentistry. The learning never ends – we devote significant hours each year to stay current and relevant within our dynamic industry. Additionally, we enjoy collaborating with our mentors and our peers to learn how to continue to be better clinicians. Quite simply, we strive to be the best.  On a more personal level, the relationships that we build with our patients and the impact of their smile transformations continue to motivate us to create beautiful and natural smiles. The entire office team at the Dental Spa is committed to providing excellent service to our patients so that the entire experience is as smooth as possible!
