Fall Beauty Refresh

In many ways, September is the new January, making the turn of the season a reason to invest (or re-invest) in self-care. And whether it’s having kids back in school or a hint of cooler climes in the air, it’s high time we shed summer habits (Sun! Sand! Sips!) to kickstart a season of wellness and beauty. To do so, we tapped Knoxville’s beauty and wellness experts. Here, Molly Muecke (Astra Aesthetics), Kristine Griffin (Body Ageless Living), and Kelly DeRieux  (The Beauty Mrkt) weigh in on how to reset and revitalize locally.

ASTRA AESTHETICS

In the business of encouraging self-love and confidence, Astra Aesthetics offers minimally invasive, holistic, anti-aging services that enhance natural beauty. Here, owner Molly Muecke, NP-C, shares her tips for a fall refresh.

Address skin damage. With less sun exposure on our horizons, fall is the perfect time to focus on skin treatments that address brown spots, textures, and lines. I recommend treatments like chemical peels and microneedling, which offer significant results but minimal downtime.

Consider your skincare products. In my experience, your skincare routine should include a cleanser, retinol, vitamin C, moisturizer, and sunscreen. It should also be accessible, clean, streamlined, and convenient. If it is all of the above, it will be effective regardless of the season.

Browse Astra Aesthetic’s clean skincare lines in-studio and visit astraaesthetics.com to schedule a consultation with Molly Muecke and book a treatment. P.S. Enjoy 20% off one syringe of dermal filler through September to celebrate their one year business anniversary!

BODY AGELESS LIVING

With offerings that span gua sha to micro needling, cupping to stretching, Kristine Griffin of Body Ageless Living is Knoxville’s expert for holistic healing, inside and out. In fact, according to Kristine, the two are undeniably interrelated and should therefore be considered in harmony. When asked how to reset this balance for fall, Kristine maintains that “this [season] is truly the best time to embrace a good routine.” Below, Kristine explains, highlighting the importance of a routine, what it should include, and how to set one that you’ll stick to.

Consider the whole self. I encourage my clients to approach the body holistically, and consider physical and emotional components of beauty and wellness. This looks like exploring the physical effects of mental wellbeing and lifestyle. Once we understand what is happening physically and emotionally, we can design a bespoke plan to address both.

Embrace support. Seek out an expert that supports your skin and overall wellness journey. At Body Ageless Living, this looks like creating bespoke treatment plans like simple daily skincare regimens, weekly check-ins, or monthly facials. I’ve found that this helps with accountability, too.

Set S.M.A.R.T. goals. Regardless of the season — though the start of school and fall season can be particularly stressful — I recommend setting S.M.A.R.T. goals: S, Measurable, A, R, Timely. This goal-setting approach provides parameters and accountability that lead to success.

Know that baby steps are still steps. No matter how big your strides in the right direction are, they are still in the right direction!

THE BEAUTY MRKT

For mindful and modern beauty, Kelli DeRieux’s The Beauty Mrkt is Knoxville’s go-to. A veritable haven for product junkies, the beauty mrkt is stocked with the world’s best clean beauty and wellness products, all of which have been personally tested by Kelli herself. For tips on embracing fall — including its makeup trends and skincare concerns — we tapped Kelli.

Get rich. As temps drop, so does humidity. To keep my skin hydrated, I opt for a richer moisturizer and incorporate a face oil into my routine. This helps seal in the moisture.

Add it up. In addition to opting for a richer moisturizer, I’ll add acids to my routine to address summer’s sweat and sun. Looking to combat the summer sun’s hyperpigmentation? Try a Vitamin C serum!

Embrace subtle switches. I tend to stick to the same makeup routine year-round, however, come fall and winter, I’ll embrace a more dramatic lip and eye.

Borrow from the 90s. As far as beauty trends go, the 90s are back — with a modern twist, thankfully. Think: groomed eyebrows and brown lips, grungy smokey eyes and fresh, dewy skin.

The Beauty Mrkt is always adding new, clean products to their lineup of skincare and beauty favorites.

Expect additional product lines, including Augustine’s Bader, collagen powders, and more! While we recommend stopping in store for the full experience (Kelli’s guidance and expertise is unmatched), you can shop online at thebeautymrkt.com 24/7. Don’t forget to tell them Scout sent you!
