With Knoxville boasting dozens of excellent local breweries around town – or just minutes away – selecting a case from the seemingly endless options can be overwhelming. To help you make a quick selection the next time you’re browsing the beer cave, Volume 6 Member Bob’s Liquor + Wine weighs in. LOCAL GO-TO’S
BLACKHORSE BREWERY
IPA (70 IBUs | 7.2%) Indulge in the immersive experience of this crisp, earthy, dry-hopped American style IPA. BLACKBERRY FARM BREWERY
IPA (7.1% ABV) is a celebration of New World hops and all of their versatility in unfiltered IPA form. Bursting with fruit, citrus, and complex aromas, this is sure to satisfy drinkers on both coasts and everywhere in between.
Saison (6.3 ABV) This Belgian-style Saison features European noble-type hops, authentic Belgian Saison yeast and the finest European two-row malt.
SCHULZ BRÄU BREWING COMPANY
Helles Lager (20 IBUs | 5.4% ABV) is a traditional lager for easy-drinking. With a crisp, clean taste, the beautiful pale yellow beer boasts a mild grainy aroma and satisfying maltiness. Expect a smooth, refreshing drinking experience.
TENNESSEE BREW WORKS
Hippies & Cowboys(35 IBUs | 6.5% ABV) is an India Pale Ale ode to your Tennessee friends which, undoubtedly, comprise hippies and cowboys. This tropical and citrus IPA provides luscious aromas that filter through to the palate. Light on the bittering, it ends with a smooth and crisp finish. It is a very versatile beer that can be enjoyed on the ranch after a hard day’s work or listening to live music at a gritty honky tonk.
YEE-HAW BREWING CO.
Yee-Haw Dunkel is the beer that started the hype around Yee-Haw Brewing Co. Their Dunkel is many things – rich, deep, complex, award-winning among them – but it’s definitely not heavy. In this Munich-Style Dunkle, enjoy flavors of biscuits, cocoa, and caramel without the slog of a heavy stout. Available year-round.
Yee-Haw IPA (75 IBUs | 6.7% ABV) marries the best of West Coast-style hop flavors with an England-style look to pack a bitter punch. Beautifully balanced, medium bodied, and straw-colored, Yee-Haw’s IPA is true to style with a strong fragrance of citrus and pine. Available year-round.
