Two-Day Encaustic Workshop
Come learn the basics and history of encaustic beeswax painting!
Day One: Feb 9th (Fri) 11-4pm
-Brief history of this Ancient Greek painting medium
-Panel/substrate options and prep
-Terminology and tools used
-Technical demo of encaustic application
-Studio and torch safety
Day Two: Feb 10th (Sat) 12-3pm
-New Techniques: Photo Encaustic/Pan & Oil Pastels
-One on one assistance, as needed
-More time to work and explore the medium
You will be creating original and one-of-a-kind encaustic paintings!
All necessary supplies are provided for this workshop (see list below), and starter encaustic kits, additional panels, and supplies are also available for purchase.
All sessions will be held in a small group to allow for individual instruction and overview. A safety waiver must be signed during the safety training demo as we will be utilizing a heat gun and/or butane torch in this class.
Drinks and snacks will also be provided.
Materials supplied by instructor (for use during workshop):
(For each student) Encaustic medium and ready-to-use paints, x2 birch wood panels, heat gun, butane torch, hot palette with temperature regulator, brushes, palette knives, various scraping tools, tape, aprons, parchment paper, paper towels, gloves, heat tolerant working surface. Additional materials relevant to the nature of the workshop will be included as well.
14+ All workshops will be limited to 4 participants. This intimate class setting will allow for one on one overview and instruction.
This class will take place inside my studio 1063 at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment, Huntsville, AL.
Park past the guard shack, come into Door 2, turn right and I will be on the left, past the troll mural.
