The 12 Days of Christmas, Scouted Huntsville Style!
Christmas and the holiday season are simply filled to brim with fun, family traditions, food, and of course, song. This year, we wanted to add our own little Scout Guide Huntsville twist on the traditional song—The Twelve Days of Christmas!
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a partridge in a pear tree! (Well this little partridge told me he prefers roosting in topiary trees from Brooks and Collier and his pears served in gorgeous pottery from The Topiary Tree!)
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree! (Forget sugarplums dancing in your head folks, these two turtle doves, Mark and Ron of In Bloom, can make all your floral dreams come true!)
On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me, three french hens (but these are not just ordinary hens, they’re succulent rosemary roasted hens paired with potatoes and root vegetables from Chef Rene of Purveyor matched perfectly with exclusive wines from Church Street Wine Shoppe) … two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the forth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, four calling birds (Bullet and Barrel can help you with the hunt for those calling birds in style!) … three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, (we know you’ve been waiting for this one, because as a kid you shouted it, right? Go right ahead and shout!)
FIVE GOLDEN RINGS!
(and would you look at that gold and glittery extravagance from DePriest Robbins) … four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, six geese a laying (of course the geese could only lay golden eggs upon these lush and luxurious throw pillows from Golden Griffin!) … five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me, seven swans a swimming (because what teeny swan would not want to swim in a gorgeous sink or tub from Heritage Kitchen and Bath, seriously have you seen their showroom?), six geese a laying… (deep breath) … Five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eight maids a milking (those maids learned all their skills—milking, churning butter, dutch oven baking, blacksmithing, watercolor painting, stainless, jewelry making and all the folk school arts at Burritt on the Mountain!) … seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying… (deep breath)…Five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, nine ladies dancing (on pointe! and these ladies from Jill’s Studio of Dance make it look effortless) … eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying… (deep breath)…Five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, ten lords a leaping, (we could not think of a better way to make a lord leap than with a pair of these handsome shoes from Roosevelt and Co.) … nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying… (deep breath)…Five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eleven pipers piping (or better yet, our sweet gal Lee Lee of of Lyn’s Gracious Goodness piping her delish Christmas cookies!) … ten lords a leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying… (deep breath)…Five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, twelve drummers drumming (go ahead and count them, you know you want to—twelve drums and one awesome Randolph School drummer!) … eleven pipers piping, ten lords a leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying… (deep breath) … Five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!
Merry Christmas Everyone! And may your 12 Days of Christmas be warm, bright, merry and full of everyone and everything you love!
