Meet Sonya Wintzell of Dental Professionals On Whitesburg

Welcome to our regular feature where we introduce you to the great local people who inspire, innovate, and love our fair city of Huntsville just as much as we do! This round we chatted with Dr. Sonya Wintzell of Dental Professionals On Whitesburg.

TSG: How many years have you been in business in Huntsville? 

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: 21

TSG: Wow, 21 Years! How has your business changed from when you first opened till now?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: We have maintained our core values for all these years which are all centered on the question “What is best for our patients?”. But without change comes a lack of progress and growth. Most of our changes have been in technology. We take pride in delivering the latest materials and treatment protocols based on proven cutting edge technology. From guided implant and tooth replacement procedures that we utilize 3D planning software in helping us place the implants in the best possible position to intraoral digital scanning and smile design where the patient can visualize the results prior to the treatment we are willing to invest the money and team training to deliver the best service and quality to our patients. Dentistry continues to evolve and become easier and more comfortable for the patient. But the basics are the same – build relationships with the patients by getting to know what their goals are and then treat every patient like they are the most precious person in the world.

TSG: What inspired you to start your own business?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: I love helping people meet their cosmetic and oral health goals. Knowing I have contributed to their overall health brings great satisfaction. I also enjoy inspiring those that work for me to reach for their dreams and goals.

TSG: What is unique about your business?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: We truly care for our patients and build relationships with them. We are always concerned with their needs and goals. We accomplish this care in an extremely comfortable atmosphere making the patients’ experience exceptional is our number one priority.

TSG: When you’re not working, what are you up to?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: Raising four kids with my husband! I also love CrossFit, gardening, traveling, and playing with our new puppy Tucker. I am always doing something—I do not sit still well!

TSG: What is your favorite thing about Huntsville?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: THE COMMUNITY!! We have such a diverse, intelligent, growth-oriented community. Huntsville is special and I am so proud to call it home.

TSG: Do you have any hobbies? Tell us why you love them.

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: I call gardening my therapy. Doing manual labor and creating something beautiful warms my heart.

TSG: Do you have any words to live by?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: Proceed as if success is inevitable.

TSG: What’s on your desk right now?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: Working on our yearly team retreat and goal planning for 2021. I am ready to say goodbye to 2020!!

TSG: What do you never leave home without?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: My iPhone – it has my life on it. And earrings—they make me feel completely dressed for any occasion.

TSG: Who is your hero and why?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: Our veterans. We take for granted so many things that they worked hard to establish for us. 

TSG: What did you want to be when you grew up?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: An architect—so now I build teeth!

TSG: Is there anything else you want us to know/share?

Dr. Sonya Wintzell: We have a team that is completely devoted to the patient experience. I am so thankful for them and proud to work alongside them. We all truly care about every person that walks in our door. In our meeting room, we have a sign that embodies what we strive to do every day. It says, “We are here to make good things happen to great people.” We are here to make you smile!
