The Scout Guide Huntsville has partnered with Homegrown Huntsville to celebrate the return of the upcoming Crush Wine and Food Festival on the last weekend of September. Artists will become an integral part of this well-loved local Huntsville festival by entering our contest Scout’s Art Crush and creating a wine-inspired art piece.

Overview: Artists will create a work of art using an empty wine bottle of their choice, upcycling it into a creative art piece that can be painted, decoupaged, electrified, or modified with mixed media in any way they would like.

All submitted artwork will be featured on The Scout Guide Huntsville’s Facebook and Instagram for a vote and will be displayed at The Crush Wine and Food Festival.

The top three winners of the popular vote on social media will win a ribbon, promotion on The Scout Guide Huntsville’s Facebook and Instagram, and (best yet!) will be a featured artist in the Scout Guide Huntsville Art Alley at Crush Wine and Food Festival on September 25. Featured artists will receive a vendor pass for themselves and an assistant to The Crush for the entire event, be given a booth area to set up, display, and sell their art to the estimated 2,500 festival ticket holders, and create a live artwork piece at the festival (canvas will be provided by TSG). The live art piece will be raffled off with 100% of the proceeds benefitting Crush Parkinson’s, a fund administered by The Huntsville Hospital Foundation to benefit research on Parkinson’s Disease.

Contest Rules:

An empty wine bottle must be an integral part of the work — artistic license may be taken from there. The finished piece may be no larger than 12” x 24” x 12” and be family-friendly. The Scout Guide Huntsville retains the right to refuse anything deemed inappropriate for our platform.

The artwork is due no later than August 20 and must be delivered to White Rabbit Studios., Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, Railroad Room 9, 2211 Seminole Drive, Huntsville. Studio hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 12-5 pm.

Artwork will be featured on The Scout Guide Huntsville’s Facebook and Instagram platforms August 26 – September 3 during which time the public will vote on their favorites. The top three winners will be chosen by popular vote and winners will be notified on September 4. Winners will be announced to the public on September 25.

All participating artwork will be displayed at The Crush on September 25, 3-7 pm in The Scout Guide Huntsville’s Art Alley area of Big Spring Park. The pieces will be sold via silent auction and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Crush Parkinson’s, a fund administered by The Huntsville Hospital Foundation to benefit research on Parkinson’s Disease.

There is no entry fee for this contest.
