Meet the Members: Casey Charles and Katie Wells of Del Monte Realty

Follow along as we share their stories, inspiration and motivation in our newest series, Meet the Members. Up next, Casey Charles and Katie Wells, Brokers + Owners of Del Monte Realty, a boutique residential real estate brokerage in Houston, TX.


The Scout Guide Houston: Casey and Katie, we are so thrilled to welcome you to Volume 6 of The Scout Guide Houston! To start us off, can you share what inspired you to take the entrepreneurial leap?
Katie Wells: Thank you! Casey and I are thrilled to be a part of the Scouted network! I had been with different brokerages throughout my career and decided to start my own business, Katie Wells Realty, to provide clients with the best experience from start to finish. Casey Charles: And then I joined the company and quickly our broker-agent relationship developed into a like-minded partnership with common goals. Since then, we have grown our team strategically to support the Del Monte Realty vision through mentoring and a collaborative spirit.

TSG Houston: What informs Del Monte Realty?
KW & CC: Like many Houstonians, our business was born in Briargrove, as we enjoyed a glass of wine and watched our kids play. And because we built this business from the ground up, Del Monte Realty feels very much like our baby. So, we strive to do things differently by partnering with our clients to provide a personalized experience. No transaction is identical, so the service we provide shouldn’t be either.

TSG Houston: What’s the best part of your work as realtors?
KW & CC: Hands down, helping clients navigate the real estate needs for their life stage. We love that our experience in real estate allows us to act as “guidance counselors” in the process of finding the home that meets the needs and desires of our clients.

TSG Houston: Real Estate is a demanding career. How do you stay motivated?
KW & CC: The opportunity we have to play pivotal parts in our clients’ lives is inspiring and motivating. It’s truly special.

TSG Houston: As realtors, you’re looked to as a local resource. Tell us, what are a few of your go-to spots?
KW & CC: Houston has a fabulous culinary landscape, making it hard to narrow down our favorites. But, you can’t go wrong with Goode and Company Cantina or Jonathan’s the Rub. By Popular Demand is our favorite happy hour spot.

TSG Houston: Other than our food scene, what’s the best part of living in Houston?
KW & CC: Hands down, the people!

TSG Houston: One last question, which our readers who are interested in starting their own small businesses always ask… What is the most valuable piece of advice you two have received as small business owners?
KW & CC: The best advice we’ve received is to “stay true to yourself.” Our commitment to this advice is what makes our company special. It’s what sets us apart and keeps clients coming back. It also helps us balance work and life, which is a juggling act! Real Estate tends to be very seasonal and we are thankful for how understanding our families and friends are. While sometimes we find ourselves missing out on spending time with loved ones during busy seasons, we make up for it big every chance we get! Family is everything for each of us.
