Additionally, she’s a tenacious woman, having survived breast cancer twice, as well as two plane crashes. Read on to get to know her better…

The Scout Guide Houston: Sharon, welcome to The Scout Guide Houston, we’re thrilled to include you in our network of Houston’s best. As you know, our readers are avid supporters of small businesses. Can you share a bit about what brought you to The Scout Guide?
Sharon Dreyer: Thank you! I’m thrilled to join such a fabulous community! I’ve been a realtor for over 27 years, and it’s important to me to share my love of, gratitude for, and success with this career. My hope is that I’ll continue to meet new Houstonians and help them find fabulous homes.

TSG Houston: What a career! What has kept you motivated throughout those 27 years?
SD: I love what I do! Seeing smiles from across the closing table – whether they’re from a Buyer you helped find their “dream home” or a Seller you found a great buyer for – is such a wonderful feeling. Aside from that, the flexibility of working for myself makes long hours and persistence worth it!

TSG Houston: You mentioned long hours – and we know those well. Do you have any tips for achieving a work/life balance?
SD: Only commit to what you can physically and emotionally do. Prioritize your time, making space for “self-care.” For me, that looks like being around my children and five grandchildren, going for a walk, or having lunch with a friend.

TSG Houston: What advice would you give to someone considering a career in real estate?
SD: Listen more, talk less. This is incredibly hard to do but very important for work and life.

TSG Houston: Now for the fun and easy questions. What’s your favorite part of town?
SD: Memorial Park – it’s a beautiful urban forest right in the middle of town! Did you know it’s double the size of New York’s Central Park?

TSG Houston: Go-to restaurant?
SD: Carrabbas on Kirby!

TSG Houston: And finally, you’ve witnessed Houston’s evolution for decades, what’s been the best part of that?
SD: The energy and diversity.

We look forward to sharing more of Sharon Dreyer’s story with you over the next year – in the meantime, make sure to follow along on Instagram. To learn more about Alison Donaldson and her collaborative commissions, reach out to her here – and don’t forget to tell her scout sent you!
