Hattiesburg Health | Get to Know Rachael Hudson, DO, of Orleans Park Family Medicine

It is always a great idea to check in with your health and the health of your family members, especially as we enter into a new season and a new school year. We had the pleasure of interviewing Hattiesburg Clinic’s Rachael Hudson, DO, of Orleans Park Family Medicine so you can get to know more about her and her practice here in Hattiesburg if you are considering finding a local family physician!

What made you decide to go into the field of family medicine?

Disease prevention is one of the central themes in family medicine and I have a great appreciation for this. I enjoy the diversity of the patient population and health conditions that I encounter in a single day. But perhaps my favorite part about this field of medicine is the relationships I build with my patients.

How long have you called Hattiesburg home?

I have lived the majority of my life in Hattiesburg. I did live in Oxford, Mississippi for four years while earning my undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi, but after graduating, I moved back home to attend medical school at William Carey University. I completed my residency here in Hattiesburg at Forrest General Family Medicine Residency Program and now practice at Hattiesburg Clinic.

Describe your practice in three words.

Tenacious, thoughtful, personalized

What is one thing people can do daily to make a difference in their overall health?

Most people can safely increase their daily water intake. Even the person with the busiest schedule can make this a healthy habit. A quick calculation is your weight in pounds divided by two. This is the amount of water in ounces you should be consuming per day. The average male should consume around 12.5 cups per day, while the average female should drink approximately 9 cups per day. Of course, you should always consult with your doctor regarding your particular needs.
