Happy Women’s Small Business Month to all the incredible female-owned businesses in Hamilton County. While we believe in celebrating and supporting them all year long, let’s show them some extra love this month. Follow them, leave a rave review, buy their products—and remember to tell them The Scout Guide sent you!

This week, we’re celebrating Women’s Small Business Month with Caroline Pyle of Abstract Designs by CPyle.

Caroline believes that each life has a story to tell and painting has become the voice to share her story. After surviving a life-threatening automobile accident that took years of therapy to recover both her cognitive and physical functions, she discovered her innate, artistic talent through painting. It became part of her healing process. Though she had a long-standing career in public health, this catastrophic event showed her the connection between creativity and personal health. A self-taught abstract artist, Caroline gives her emotions a clear voice, allowing pain and brokenness to be articulated through beauty.

Her passion for creativity, which was first a means of personal survival, has now become a voice of hope for broader audiences. Caroline has exhibited nationally and her works of art can be found in select fine art galleries throughout the United States.

Who is a woman business owner who inspires you and why?
Umaimah Mendhro, Founder/CEO of VIDA Design Studio. I am inspired by Ms. Mendhro because she has created a global eCommerce platform that offers opportunities to artists (such as myself) to curate unique wearable art pieces and links us with makers from around the world to produce products and accessories.  Her global vision inspires me to think BIG.  Additionally, careful attention has been paid to every aspect of the company.  They use recycled and sustainably sourced materials of natural and high quality to minimize the impact of waste on our planet.  Additionally, for every product made, VIDA offers literacy and education programs in their factories across the globe.  I am proud of my collaboration with VIDA Design Studio.  They not only create opportunities for artists to enter the world of design, but they also ensure makers are empowered to build a better future for themselves.
