The winter season always takes a toll on our skin. Dry, flakey, itchy, red skin… No one wants that! So what can you do to moisturize, hydrate, and sooth your skin during the dry winter months?!

Here are some tips from the Ageless in the Triad team!

MOISTURIZE your skin! We hear from a lot of clients that they do not moisturize because they are worried about oily skin or risk of breakouts but that is a skin myth. There are moisturizers for every skin type! We have several great options in the Spa that we love, including Obagi Medical Hydrate, Hydrate Luxe, and Therapeutic Moisturizer. All moisturizers pair great when you first apply Environ Hyaluronic Acid Serum! Hyaluronic Acid holds 1,000 times its weight in water. In other words, when you use this serum, your skin retains 1,000 times more water than it did without the serum. You will feel hydrated, plump, and refreshed with the Environ HA Serum.

Since our skin is so dry during winter months, your moisturizer may have a hard time absorbing into your skin. How do we fix that? EXFOLIATE! The common belief that dry skin types shouldn’t exfoliate is another skin myth. Depending on how dry and irritated your skin is, you can exfoliate 2-4 times a week. For dry skin we recommend a topical exfoliator like Obagi Medical Exfoderm Forte. This is a comfortable, non-abrasive product that contains 6% Glycolic Acid and 4% Lactic Acid. Glycolic Acid eats away at the dead skin build up and Lactic Acid improves moisture retention. Sounds like the perfect combination to me! You can use this product as a mask for 15-20 minutes or apply a thin layer and sleep in it overnight. For those that are oily, Obagi’s Exfoliating Cleanser is a perfect option. This exfoliator combines chemical and physical exfoliation to result in a more radiant and renewed skin barrier.

We offer many different services in the spa for dry, winter skin. It is recommended you receive monthly facials. Additionally, we can discuss your skin goals and concerns, and suggest a series of chemical peels, micro-needling, and/or laser treatments. These services result in a lighter, brighter, and tighter appearance, smoother texture, reduction of fine lines, and encourage collagen production. In each of these in-office treatments, we will also educate you about what to do at home.

Consultations with our Nurse Practitioner Avery or our Esthetician Olivia are completely free! At this appointment, we will discuss your skin and goals, and recommend what products and in-spa services you need monthly to provide you with the results you desire!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
