New You in 2021!

New you in 2021?
Is 2021 your year for self-improvement? Some of us have done a lot on our own for self-improvement during the recent “quarantine lifestyle.” Some of us have decided we need a little more help! If you’ve decided that it’s time to invest in professional treatments or procedures, read on for advice from the Renewal Med Spa team at Salem Plastic Surgery.
Scout Guide Triad asked Aesthetic Nurse Injectors Joy Goins and Alejandra Santos for their advice.
Scout Guide: Let’s say I’ve been thinking about “getting some work done” and have saved up $10,000; what would you say is my best plan?
Joy & Alejandra: It depends on if you have more concerns with your face or body. If you feel you want more of a focus on your face, you can have a facelift and additional procedures that complement it.
We recommend a brow lift, a neck lift, and laser skin resurfacing.
If the concerns are with your body you can have a combination of surgical procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast augmentation. Sometimes people refer to these combinations as a “Mommy Makeover.”
There are many other more specialized procedures such as thigh lifts, brachioplasty, breast lifts, and breast reductions.
Scout Guide: What if I’ve been thinking about various treatments or procedures but only want to spend about $2,000?
Joy & Alejandra: We have many non-surgical procedures at Renewal Med Spa in this range such as Coolsculpt fat reduction, Emsculpt Muscle Toning, Laser Skin Rejuvenation, and facial injections such as Botox and fillers.
Small budgets can have a big impact!
Scout Guide: Apart from procedures and treatments, what should every 40-year-old woman be doing for her skin regularly?
Joy & Alejandra: We believe you should invest in a comprehensive medical-grade skincare program. First, you should have an assessment and consultation with an aesthetic nurse to develop your personalized customized skincare program. Each woman’s skin is different; the options are plentiful.
Keep in mind, there is no one “magic” ingredient or product that will address all skin issues. It’s best to get a professional assessment.
Scout Guide: Is there a “best” time of year to schedule a surgical procedure?
Joy & Alejandra: Women and men are scheduled for all twelve months of the year. It really depends on your schedule and lifestyle. Always take into account the amount of downtime needed for a healthy recovery.

Nancy is a native of Durham, North Carolina and has lived in Winston Salem (off and on) for 20 years. The city has transformed itself since her days as a student at Wake Forest University. She attended The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia prior to college. In between stints living in Winston Salem, she has also lived in Nashville, Tennessee and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dubbed by her friends as “the spa fairy,” Nancy loves to travel and be pampered. Her favorite vacation includes lots of hiking and outdoor activities followed by a massage and then a delicious dinner. She feels lucky that North Carolina is a state with never ending options for her favorite ventures!
She is an avid reader but loves people too much to not have conversation so she also is a needlepointer–because you can still chat with someone while you stitch! She loves to garden and cook and hopes she is teaching her two sons to do the same.
