February Editor Loves
It is February and love is in the air! Women are dreaming of chocolate, flowers, and jewelry, while men are starting to panic because we are still in the middle of a pandemic and the pressure is on to plan something “romantic” for this Sunday night when dinner reservations are scarce!
However, what we have found most impressive at Scout Guide Triad is the amount of business love and community love that we have been seeing in 2021. So many small businesses have banded together with joint offerings and pop-up shops. Weekends in the Triad this winter have become a lot of fun with all the options, which is all the more impressive given current events!
Here are a few of our favorites from the past few weeks. Some of these have already happened (hope you saw them on our Instagram Stories in real time), and some are still to come. However, you should follow all of these businesses and keep an eye on what they are doing because there has been a lot of innovation and creativity exhibited and we hope it inspires others as well.
Summerfield Farms Pop Ups and Community Events
It will come as no surprise that the team running Summerfield Farms has a lot going on that is fun and fresh. The most recent event was their Super Bowl Party featuring local favorite, Brown Truck Brewery. In weeks past, they have partnered with Wanderlust Boards on charcuterie board workshops and they have frequent special meals and events with 1618 On Location. This upcoming Saturday (2/13), they are offering a Galentine’s at the farm featuring Kendra Scott, Tiny Plant Market, Duck Donuts, Randy McManus Designs, and Sage Hanna Betts. This Saturday night is a special Valentine’s dinner and concert featuring Stephanie Quayle. Also, let’s not forget that every Wednesday through Sunday, you will find a medley of fabulous food trucks where you can grab dinner and a drink from the Well Truck. It has actually become quite the social scene out there most nights, so if you are desperate to get out of your house in a safe way, head out there after 5 PM and have a good time meeting new people!
1618 On Location and ABBA Design
Obviously, we love both the 1618 Concepts team and Tonya Morris at ABBA Design. So we love it even more that they have combined their strengths and are offering great options for Valentine’s Day. The first is the “Valentine’s Grams,” which consist of mini floral bouquets from Tonya and cheese, strawberries, and Prosecco from 1618. They will deliver these items for you to your recipient and it is quite affordable. Of course, they are also offering a romantic dinner for 2 (delivery on Saturday 2/13) with the option of adding a large floral bouquet and cocktails. We have a feeling this is just the start of a beautiful partnership for future special events.
Neighborhood Barre and Gate City Charcuterie
Two newer and very interesting businesses have combined forces for Valentine’s Weekend. The concept is simple – bring your “bae” to barre class and add a charcuterie board to up the fun for the evening. What we like is that these very different businesses have identified a dramatic need in our community for social interaction in a safe, socially-distanced manner and they have sought to fill it with something fun and just a little bit different on Valentine’s weekend.
Valentine’s Pop Up Options
There are a few pop ups this week that hit our radar.
(1) Gracie’s Garden Flower Truck + Wanderlust Boards at Rebecca & Co in Winston-Salem (Fri 2/12 from 10 AM – 1 PM)
(2) Tiny Plant Market at Wood & Thread Boutique (Sat 2/13 from 11 AM – 2 PM)
(3) Saturday on State Street with Be Kind Kids (featuring a goodies giveaway from Gracie’s Garden Flower Truck, Wanderlust Boards, Board and Box, and Elaka Treats.
