Recently, we chatted with William Adams, Senior Loan Officer The Adams Team – Legacy Mutual Mortgage, a full-service mortgage company in Fort Worth, Texas. Here, he talks getting into the industry, Fort Worth, and what you need to know about home buying.

The Scout Guide Fort Worth: William, we are so thrilled to have you and your team as Volume 9 Members! Let’s start at the beginning: how did you get into the mortgage industry?
William Adams: After graduating from the University of Georgia (go Dawgs!) with a degree in Banking & Finance and operating businesses across multiple industries, I set out to build an entrepreneurial, finance-centric, and people-facing career. The mortgage industry was a perfect fit, and I’ve been with Legacy Mutual since 2015. In that time, The Adams Team has helped numerous families build wealth through home ownership and real estate investments, which I’m so proud of.
The Scout Guide Fort Worth: Let’s talk more about the mortgage industry. What — if any — are common misconceptions about the industry — and your team’s role — that need to be addressed?
William Adams: One of the biggest misconceptions about the industry is that it’s a one-size-fits-all process. Yes, the industry is highly regulated and complex. However, my team specializes in creating unique, creative strategies for our clients to position them for wealth building. Whether they’re purchasing their first home or their tenth investment property; a newly single parent, or a veteran, we build a strategy to each client’s specific needs and life stage.

William Adams: Preparation is critical to a stress-free mortgage. Many think the loan process starts with finding a home you like, but we encourage prospective buyers to reach out at the beginning of their home search for a mortgage consultation to ensure we achieve both their home needs and wealth goals. This also enables us to prepare all of the necessary documentation for loan approval ahead of time and confirm that a buyer is collaborating with the perfect realtor that will help them find their new home!
