Creating a Winter Wonderland with J Caldwell Custom Pools

TSG Fort Worth: Given the past year, homeowners are more eager to invest in their homes, particularly entertainment spaces. What backyard amenity has the biggest return on investment?

Taylor Christopher: Pools are so important right now. A custom gunite swimming pool incorporating an outdoor living space will give you the biggest return on your investment.

TSG Fort Worth: In Fort Worth, we’re lucky to have milder “winters” that allow for year-round use. What’s the most popular backyard amenity that’s getting a lot of use in the winter months?

TC: Without a doubt, fire pit areas and spas are the most requested amenity. We love cozying up around a fire pit for s’mores – without all the work of building a fire, of course!

TSG Fort Worth: What design trends should homeowners keep an eye out for in 2021?

TC: Modern, clean lines continue to be popular among homeowners and for resale. However, we’re also seeing more fire and water features, which are interesting, year-round ways to accessorize your yard. And, synthetic grass is a wonderful way to get year-round use – not to mention low-maintenance – from your yard.

TSG Fort Worth: If we could have it our way, we’d have a pool, spa and fire pit now. How long is a realistic turnaround, from design to being cocktail ready?

TC: We tell our clients 3 months for pools + hot tubs; 3.5 months for fire features, fire pits and outdoor kitchens; and 4 months for outdoor living spaces. But, the wait is always worth it!
